"Kenny was prompt and gave a very quote. His work was excellent. He not only repaired our spanish tile roof but also did a marvelous job on our 2nd story flat roof deck applying waterproofing sealer. I would definitely recommend him and I plan to use him again."

"The quality of work is good, but they took a drawer of mine they were supposed to repair, but are refusing to return it. This has been going on for months now, and I have texts saying they do have it. They are not answering my calls, or replying my texts anymore."

"Dieter is very knowledgeable about fixing and repairing things. He quickly fixed a tricky problem with a door that would not close correctly. He came with his assistant and they completed repairs on many small jobs I had with skill and efficiency..He showed up on the day we had agreed too and called me ahead to let me know he was coming. I was very happy with the work and the price and will hire him again."

"We could not be happier. Jamie Basilio of Champion Concrete and pools was fantastic. My wife and I have made extensive renovations on 3 homes and have worked with many contractors for various projects. We have seldom had such a positive experience like we had working with Champion. Working with Jamie was refreshing. Vary fair. Delivered as promised and then some. His workers were polite and professional. But most of all, He really listened to what we wanted. We wanted a mud set Dominican Coral stone floor and remodeled pool.. We really could not find a positive reference from anyone so we turned to Angieslist and started interviewing companies. We interviewed several pool builders and several deck /flooring companies. All the pool companies would insist that I should use travertine pavers set on sand. And flooring professionals would tell me mud set installations on concrete would be much better . This left us feeling very unsure. We thought we would have to hire the pool company to strictly remodel the pool and the flooring company to do the flooring in order to get the installation that we wanted in the material that we wanted. Finally i met Jamie and fortunately he had the know how and the crew which could do the mud set deck and the pool remodel at a better overall price. We noticed that everyone that actually hired him had given him fantastic reviews. Now I know they were well deserved. Everything went exactly as promised and changes that we requested were arranged for with little or no incremental cost. If you want a no nonsense, high integrity guy, hire Jamie Basilio of Champion Concrete and pools. You will not regret it. Edward and Myriam Pinecrest Florida"

"

Emails went back and forth before an appointment date could be established between the roofer and my tenants.  There was at least a 2-day delay waiting for Atrium Paints to get back to us each time.   When they responded, they set up a date to come in 2 weeks (their earliest availability) but showed up after only one week and did a very satisfactory job.

It was just frustrating communicating with them.  Their work was fine, and they were courteous when they got back to us, just not as promptly as I expected.

I would use them again.

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

Most building codes require that spindles or balusters on deck and stair railings be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard, often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' is designed to prevent small children or pets from slipping through the railing. A good way to visualize this is that a 4-inch sphere should not be able to pass between two spindles. For the same safety reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck floor should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is crucial to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.

Covering your deck with a breathable tarp can protect it from snow, ice, and cold winter temperatures. This is a good winterizing solution if you don’t plan to use your deck at all during the colder months. However, it might be best to skip the tarp if you’ll still be walking on your deck or using it in a limited capacity.

Both deck footings and deck posts help prop up your deck. However, footings are the bottommost parts of a deck that touch the ground. They’re usually made of concrete. Posts are pieces of wood that attach to the top of the footings with brackets. They run upwards and connect to the underside of your deck to support its weight.
