"Jessie did a great job with the installation of my composite deck. First he went out of his way to locate the decking for me. He did an expert job in a timely fashion. Went the extra mile to take care of small issues associated with the installation and consulted with me on any issue instead of just doing what he thought. Cleaned up and replaced everything when he was done. I highly recommend Jessie as he is a perfectionist in his field. You wonâ t be disappointed!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you need to leave your chimney damper open when burning a creosote log so that smoke and other debris doesn’t waft into your house as it’s burning. You’ll need to make sure your damper is fully open, even when the log continues to smoke, until it’s completely out and cold.

Testing a fire extinguisher by discharging even a small amount will void the warranty on the product. Pushing down the pressure pin on top and waiting to see if it pops up is the best way to ensure it’s still pressurized. If you’re concerned about your extinguisher, hire an expert for a professional inspection.

You can’t gauge the lifetime of a fire door like you could, say, an engine. Fire doors should be checked at least once every six months to ensure there are no signs of degradation like leaks, holes, water damage, termite damage, or anything else that might compromise the functionality of the door’s fire resistance. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.

There aren’t many problems with fire doors except that they slow down or cut off ventilation at the higher rating levels. For this reason, work with a professional to ensure you have adequate ventilation throughout your house or workspace. The sealing around a fire door is meant to allow for a specific amount of ventilation and will need regular inspections to ensure adequate airflow.

Some Christmas lights are marked as being “UL Safety Certified” or Underwriters Laboratories Safety Certified. This lab is a trusted source for determining the safety standards of electrical products—you should make sure your Christmas lights have this label. Brush up on other electrical safety tips before installing any lighting features.
