"This company deserves FAR more than 5 stars! After falling for a flooring scam (50Floor! STAY AWAY!), I hired Brad to look at some problem areas and get the floor leveled. They worked quickly, were consummate professionals, experts in their field, and all at a very reasonable cost. When they discovered that my house was not structurally sound, Brad and his team worked furiously to build a temporary structure to support the second floor and roof, just before a hurricane hit town in a matter of hours. In the end, I was so impressed with the entire job that I hired Brad to install new flooring upstairs when the construction was finished. There is not anything they can not do! I will endlessly recommend them for any projects you might have, and fully intend to use them exclusively moving forward."

Small jobs welcome

"Just okay. Work started out great. Price was great and he was very responsive and on time. We discussed the issues and at that time he said he could cover the cracks in my drywall and install new siding. I requested pressure treated window sills for the room because the wood sills I had were warped feom the heat of the sun. As we neared the end of the project the work became sloppy. He left a hole in my wall and said he could not get his tool in there to put a piece in there to cover it. The last wall he put siding on was not measured pproperly. He filled 1/2 inch gaps with caulking to fill in the gaps which he was not even going to do until I asked him to. The door he installed fell off the top hinge so my husband had to put in longer screws. The drywall that was cracked has started to crack all over again. He also threw away the universal key to rekey the smartlock he just installed for me. Lastly he was supposed to fix a crack in my garage ceiling and he only fixed 1/2 of it. Plus he neverinstalledpressurewtreatedowoodlikeIrequestedforthewindowsills"

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

In Jacksonville, barndominium building projects balance function and style by integrating storm resistance into design choices. For example, popular wraparound porches and outdoor kitchens must be built to withstand high winds. Aesthetic additions like stone wainscoting can also provide protection from storm debris. Open-concept layouts are common but require strategic HVAC zoning to manage airflow and humidity effectively throughout the home.

Helpful?

In Jacksonville, FL, prioritize a foundation designed for sandy soil and a high water table, incorporating vapor barriers and proper drainage. Next, focus on hurricane-resistant steel framing to meet local wind load requirements. A comprehensive moisture control system with dehumidifiers and high-performance spray foam insulation is also essential to combat the area's high humidity and prevent condensation issues within the metal structure.

Helpful?

In Jacksonville's humid climate, failing to run bathroom exhaust fans can trap moisture and promote mold. Neglecting to clean gutters can cause water to back up, while allowing vegetation to touch the metal siding can trap moisture and accelerate corrosion. Ignoring small rust spots on the exterior or using harsh cleaning chemicals on protective coatings will also compromise the lifespan of your barndominium building work.

Helpful?

Before starting a barndominium building project in FL, confirm the property's flood zone designation, which dictates foundation requirements. Investigate local setback rules, building height limits, and any HOA architectural guidelines. Understanding the site's soil composition, which is often sandy in this region, and its drainage patterns is also crucial for designing a stable and durable foundation for your new home.

Helpful?

Jacksonville's climate demands specific considerations for barndominium building. Hurricane season requires impact-resistant windows and framing that meets Florida Building Code wind loads. Year-round high humidity necessitates superior vapor barriers and mold-resistant materials to prevent corrosion and moisture damage. Intense summer heat also makes reflective roofing and properly sized HVAC systems critical for energy efficiency and comfort in your new barndominium.
