"Just okay. Work started out great. Price was great and he was very responsive and on time. We discussed the issues and at that time he said he could cover the cracks in my drywall and install new siding. I requested pressure treated window sills for the room because the wood sills I had were warped feom the heat of the sun. As we neared the end of the project the work became sloppy. He left a hole in my wall and said he could not get his tool in there to put a piece in there to cover it. The last wall he put siding on was not measured pproperly. He filled 1/2 inch gaps with caulking to fill in the gaps which he was not even going to do until I asked him to. The door he installed fell off the top hinge so my husband had to put in longer screws. The drywall that was cracked has started to crack all over again. He also threw away the universal key to rekey the smartlock he just installed for me. Lastly he was supposed to fix a crack in my garage ceiling and he only fixed 1/2 of it. "Jim was very prompt and seemed responsive. He is a nice guy who works hard.  He started the work when he said he would and kept it on schedule in spite of some difficult weather.   His brother worked with him the first few days, but after that he did all of the work himself. 
Unfortunately, the work does not look as professional as I had hoped.  Some of the wood is not cut straight, edges are not smooth, and there are many gaps between boards. 
As the work got toward completion I told him of my concern that the workmanship was not good.  Jim said he would get it all fixed up at the end.  He filled some gaps with wood filler and sanded them, but did not finish due to rain.  The filled and sanded joints still look sloppy.  Unfortunately, these joints are right in front of the kitchen window, where we see them all the time.
Jim said he has a lifetime guarantee on his work and will come back to finish this up.  I hope he will.
Another builder told me that the structural work on the deck is very good, even "overbuilt," which I was glad to hear.

Update: Jim came back and relaid some of the boards on the deck and it looks much better! I would definitely hire him again.

Update:  The second summer after Jim built the deck I stained it myself, so I got a close look at the workmanship. Many boards were split by nailing, decking is not spaced uniformly, and  joints are not well fitted. "

"We had a worn out and falling apart fence. With two dogs and being next to the community mailboxes we knew it was time for a new fence. We contacted a few fencing companies and checked the home stores. We contacted All Area Fence because a coworker recommended them. They came promptly to the house for a free estimate at a time convenient for us. Their estimate was the lowest and we liked that it was a family run business. When they arrived to begin work they let us know they under estimated the actual cost, but told us not to worry they stand by their estimates. They managed to tear down our old fence and build out our new fence in two days. This happened two days before a Hurricane Matthew came through. We are happy to report the fence made it through the storm with no damage."
