"Rodney was extremely professional and detailed. He was even able to come out on a Sunday. Was quick to respond, polite and knowledgeable. We needed two things done, a large window and door framed out with drywall and joint compound. Price was very reasonable and quality of work was great. I would highly recommend him and his company!"

"Santhos repaired some drywall that was damaged due to a leak behind my wall that went unnoticed for months. He repaired the wall and painted it to match the same pattern I had on the wall before. I had some other guys come and look at it and they made the work seem really complicated and expensive. Santhos got it done in 2 days. I was beyond pleased."

"All East coast did a great job for me. I needed to have 3 very rough walls skim coated with mud. I didnt figure that it would be possible to make it look like fresh drywall but Dale did it. He was very helpfull giving me advise on other projects I was working on. He even brought in my trash can from the street after pickup. In the end I found him to be very profesional and would hire him again for any future projects!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

While every home has its own unique needs, ceiling drywall installation typically follows a staggered or stepped pattern to enhance structural integrity and reduce the visibility of seams. Starting from one corner, sheets are placed perpendicular to the ceiling joists, with the ends of adjacent sheets meeting along the center of the joist. The next row begins with a half sheet, ensuring joints don't align vertically. This alternating pattern, combined with proper taping and mudding, creates a seamless appearance and strengthens the ceiling structure, minimizing the risk of cracks over time.

You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.
