Chrissy's Automotive & Headliners, has been in the same location, for nearly 24 yrs. With our knowledge, dedication & commitment to Customer Service; we can handle anything you bring our way, in regards to the Auto or Upholstery aspect. If we can't help you we should know someone who can.

"I was referred to Chrissy's by my mechanic (after I informed him of what happened, he threw her business cards away). The sun shade on my Volkswagen Tiguan came off of the track about 4". I don't often use it, but thought I would go ahead and get it repaired. Chrissy and her employee came out to take a look. I had just come from the doctor, wasn't feeling well, so I stepped back (social distancing). Chrissy climbed inside and asked for a couple of days to get the numbers for me, no problem. When I looked in the car the entire sun shade was off the track and hanging down. I asked if she could get it out of the way until I heard from her so it wasn't resting on my head. Again, I backed away. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, well it did. Her "fix" was to cut holes in the shade, shove zip ties through the holes and attach to the assist handles. Waited 4 days, called, not in office, please call tomorrow she said. Waited 2 days, not in office, delivering boat seats, call tomorrow she said. Waited 5 days, said she would be in the office all day long to do paperwork. Again, I called (4 times) and now she is just not answering. Told her the first day that I would like to get this done prior to my surgery (tomorrow). Today, a total of 3 weeks and no response. I don't even have the option of not getting it fixed. It is embarrassing and bothersome to have something resting on your head while you drive. I'm truly glad that my doctor walked me out to my car just prior to my first visit to Chrissy, so she can't say she didn't do it. Sent him pictures of what she had done, he was ******. My friend Mike who has a charter boat out of Venice wanted to know how her work was, he needed seats reupholstered. He is also spreading the word of her completely unprofessional attitude and damage to my vehicle. Received an estimate from a body shop. Since it was pulled completely out of the track on both sides and cut holes where it fits into track, I need an entire new shade system, approximately $1100 (my mechanic has offered to help with the cost). She is a horrible human being, an inept businesswoman and a shyster. She knows she screwed up royally and isn't woman enough to take responsibility. I will now copy this and forward to every mechanic, charter owner and body shop in the area."

Leather and vinyl repairs FAQs

Whether the leather repair is worth it depends on the extent of the damage, the cost to repair, and the value of the leather item. If the leather is part of an item that’s very expensive to replace, then attempting to repair it may be worth it. Also, if the leather piece holds great sentimental value, it’s worth restoration or repair, if possible.

Most leather sofa repairs cost between $100 and $400. A small repair, like a single scratch or tear, may cost between about $100 and $150. However, larger, more complex repairs that may require total reupholstery can cost up to $4,000, depending on the type of leather, the build of the sofa, and the time required to complete the work. A leather repair specialist will provide an estimate based on the specific project and its damage.

Leather patches can last anywhere from two to 20 years, depending on use, maintenance, and the environment the leather is in. The longevity of the leather repair also depends on the nature of the original damage and the repairs required. Consult a leather repair specialist about how to make your leather fix last as long as possible.

It’s possible to repair damaged leather as long as the damage is not too severe. Professional leather repair specialists can fill, smooth, and refinish damage like scratches, cracks, and other damage by color matching the rest of the leather. Leather repair pros can evaluate the damage and recommend a plan for repair or replacement. If the leather is on furniture or another item that’s difficult or impossible to replace, repair is the best option, even if the repair does not match perfectly.

When deciding whether to repair your leather furniture or not, consider a few advantages and disadvantages:

Pros

  • Less expensive than buying a new piece

  • Extends the life of the leather before replacement is necessary

  • Makes your leather item look like new

  • Some repairs are relatively easy

Cons

  • Some repairs may be costly

  • Damage may not be repairable

  • Repairs may not blend perfectly with the original leather

  • May need to leave the piece with a repair expert
