"Wonderful experience! We needed to get rid of our old 80's style tub shower and replace with a new low step-over walk- in shower. This will literally save our necks in the future by reducing our chances of falling getting in or out of the shower. When you call Cody, he sets up a time to meet and comes over to explain every step of the process. You get a comfortable feeling right away that this is a very professional business and he'll make sure things are done right. The demolition and install were completed safely and carefully. You don't have to worry about cleanliness, everything is cleaned up and hauled away and it's likely to be cleaner than before they started. Very professional workers and the outcome looks great!"

"The workmanship from the contractors was wonderful. While we might have paid a little bit more using Westshore it was worth it! The quality of rhe materials used in tear out our tub and shower is great. We have a lifetime warranty-as long as we live here. Very pleased with everything-it's always nerve wracking hiring contractors. We do not hesitate at all in recommending Westshore-they train their own contractors!"

"I can't be more pleased! I needed 2 sheds power washed, painted 2 colors to match my home, trimmed with lattice, and a hole cut for a "window" AC unit in one shed. They had every right to reschedule with us at the start of our project because my husband dropped the ball and didn't move his junk away from the sheds. They moved his junk and started the project. That's superior customer service as well as going above and beyond. They also completed my project in a very reasonable time frame. There's no question I'll hire K&S Services again they are for sure my new "go to" handyman."

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.

Shower arms come in a standard size with ½-inch NPT, but designs vary. The height of the water supply pipe and the showerhead height you want affect the type of shower arm you should choose. For example, a water outlet that’s located close to the ceiling would be suitable for a standard shower arm (small extension with a slight downward angle) or a straight arm model. Outlets situated lower in the shower allow for gooseneck shower arms, which can raise the showerhead's height.

In short, it depends. When it comes to accessibility, a roll-in shower is easier to enter than a walk-in bathtub because it doesn’t have the extra step required to access the bathing area. On the downside, walk-in showers can be less safe for seniors who struggle with standing or balancing. Parents of young children may also prefer walk-in bathtubs for their ease of bathing children who don’t yet know how to clean themselves.

The cost of making a bathroom accessible can be $3,000 to $25,000, but you could spend as much as $50,000 building a brand-new ADA-compliant bathroom. Some bathroom accessibility upgrades to consider include:

  • Installing grab bars: $100–$500

  • Lowering cabinets and vanities: $1,200–$2,500

  • Installing modified doors: $700–$1,500

  • Installing a modified toilet: $400–$1,000

  • Installing an accessible sink and faucet: $100–$1,000

  • Adding a walk-in tub: $1,100–$17,000

  • Converting a bathtub into a walk-in tub: $350–$1,000

  • Installing a wheelchair-accessible shower: $2,000–$7,500

  • Installing a shower ramp: $16–$300
