"We needed some trees trimmed back in our yard. Sunbird Properties was one of three estimates. When we met with Jim at our home, he displayed excellent knowledge of his trade, and he knew exactly what we wanted as we explained it to him. His crew showed up on time and got the job done very quickly which included cleanup of all the branches. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend Sunbird Property Maintenance to my family and friends."

"Danny was very professional and let me know why he was changing sprinkler heads for better spraying on the lawn. Also moved sprinklers so they did not hit my house and gazebo. Showed me every step of the way what and why he was doing it. Great Job!"

"Anthony was efficient and able to find my problem. My sprinkler system would not stop running. I didn't know where the valves were located. He was able to find them and pinpoint the problem. He is reasonably priced and a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend him."

"I think they treated the wrong lawn. The note they sent me via text message referenced trees and shrubs in my yard, I have none. They also did not leave a yard marker showing they had been there. Otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

To prepare your lawn for core aeration, water it the day before you aerate. (Alternatively, you can wait until it rains and aerate the following day.) Aerating after watering or a rainy day will make the process easier since you can penetrate moist soil better than dry soil. You should also flag your sprinklers so that you don’t accidentally hit them while aerating. If you have a lot of thatch buildup in your yard, you might need to dethatch your lawn before aerating as well.

Several leaf-removal tools are available to make this annual process easier, including a leaf grabber, leaf tarps, leaf blowers, and leak vacuums. Each piece of equipment works differently, but they all achieve the same goal of picking up leaves as quickly and easily as possible.

No, definitely not. Pulling weeds by hand is the single most effective way to remove them because you're eliminating the entire plant—roots and all—so it won’t have a chance to grow or spread. Setting time aside a few times per week to pull weeds can keep them at bay. If the number of weeds gets overwhelming, then you can resort to other methods.

Digging a bush up by the roots is the most natural DIY method for removing a bush stump. Start by identifying the shrub type and revealing its roots. Cut the shrub to its base and loosen the soil, ensuring no utility lines are nearby. Optionally, treat the base with herbicide, then dig around the roots and cut a circle around the shrub using various tools. Dig a trench, cut the base of the root ball, and finally fill the hole to prevent regrowth. This thorough process ensures complete removal without damaging surrounding areas.

The easiest way to remove bushes is first to cut the bush down. You may need to use a handsaw, pruning shears, or a chainsaw for thicker branches. Once you’ve removed most of the branches, you can then cut the base of the shrub as low to the ground as you can get. Then, with a shovel, dig around until you expose the roots. Dig out the roots, being careful not to leave any roots in the soil.
