".
Long version/short.---If you live in an apartment it could be something you could do yourself to set up the sensors, however if you own a house and don't talk to a number of people about your particulars: layout, pets, etc.,  you will not get to really understand what you need to protect your property.  I called them based on an overwhelming number of positive reviews---I had not had any other companies come to my house at this point---big mistake on my part.  He said I could install door and window sensors and save some money by putting up several motion detectors rather than sensors to detect windows breaking. That said, it seems that the majority of false alarms are set off by pets, even those under the 40 pounds. So in the long run it was worth forgetting the motion detectors, beefing up my door jambs, and buying a number of glass breaking sensors.
Suggestions: do research before you call anyone. There is a lot of articles online and videos on Youtube about how people break in (mostly through doors). Also good articles on what to look for in a security company and questions to ask. Then use Angies list---call 3 highly rated companies in your area and have them come to your house. Having someone install for you does not mean you will end up spending more.+ your particular needs will be taken into consideration.
Make sure to ask what is the price of equipment  and monthly payments AFTER TAX. You will want to know if they charge for installation (some do not) and whether there is a charge for activation. You also need to know if the county you live in requires registration of an alarm system. The market is competitive---you don't need to install yourself!"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

A standard roof can hold a live load of about 20 pounds per square foot. However, gable roofs often have steeper-than-average slopes, so calculating their weight capacity can be challenging. If the slope of your gable roof is greater than 4:12, the live load needs to be decreased to allow for a larger dead load. Ask your roofer exactly how much weight your roof can support.

The average cost for a residential roof inspection is typically between $150 and $500, with some homeowners paying as much as $1,000 or more. The national average is around $225. Key factors that influence the final price include the roof's size and complexity, its accessibility (a high pitch can increase cost due to risk), and the roofing material, as specialty types like slate may require a specialist. Other variables are your geographic location, the inspector's expertise, and the specific services included in the inspection. To get an accurate estimate, it is best to obtain quotes from several reputable roofing professionals in your area.

If you don’t see obvious signs of roof leaks, like water spots on the ceilings inside or visible damage to the roof membrane, the best way to check for leaks is to have a professional complete a heat scan of your roof. This will identify areas where water has penetrated the membrane and is keeping the roof cooler in certain areas.

Hail damage on a roof varies depending on the roofing material. On asphalt shingles, it can appear as dark or white chalky circles where granules have been knocked off, or as cracks, dents, or bruises. For wood shingles, hail may cause the wood to split and crack. On metal roofs, hail damage is often easier to spot and looks like dings and dents. The age and condition of your roof can also affect the appearance of the damage. Regardless of what you see, it's recommended to have a professional inspect your roof after a major storm to fully assess the extent of the damage.

Inspections for new construction may not be legally required, but you should consider them a must if you’re buying a new home. The quality of the construction can vary widely by builder, and many inspections, even for brand-new homes, can uncover problems with framing, structural components, mechanicals, appliances, and more. Professional inspection reports give you leverage to push the associated repair costs to the builder rather than paying for them yourself, so they’re always worthwhile, if only for the peace of mind they provide.
