"I did quite a bit of research before hiring. Was refered to Phipps Masonry & Stucco for a masonry project and was delightfully surprised by the estimate. A fraction of the price of other contractors. I had a bad leak and they fixed it and put new mortar in my chimney all in a day. Fast workers and easy communication. I'm hiring them to fix some stucco on the side of my house next"

"Hired Landa Exteriors for a second time. Siding repair, window reframing and complete re-painting of entire exterior of home. They did an absolutely incredible job. So much so that our neighbors hired them too!"

"Brian came out for the estimate and was very professional. He answered all my questions and gave me a detailed estimate. He was the only contractor to mention permits for the job and made sure the work was done to code. I needed two different contractors, one for carpentry and the other for stucco, both excellent at what they do. They matched the existing house perfectly. The work was done promptly and as described as well as on budget. The prices were excellent for the work being done. I have dealt with contractors in the past that were flaky, either you couldn't reach them or they don't show up, this is not the case with CRO. I plan on doing more work on my house in the future and they will be the first company I call. I hope they can maintain their practices because Orlando needs more companies like them. I

Stucco questions, answered by experts

The best tape that works on stucco is the kind made explicitly for stucco surfaces. Look for tape that specifies stucco, masonry, or cement installations. The adhesive usually needs to be thicker and more durable to remain stuck to these rough surfaces.

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.

Homeowners insurance generally won’t cover stucco damage unless it’s caused by a covered event like a storm or fire. You’ll need to pay out of pocket for damage caused by age, wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or faulty installation. Consult your policy for the specifics of what stucco damage is covered and what isn’t.

Choosing between traditional and synthetic stucco depends on your specific needs, budget, and climate. Both options are durable, but synthetic stucco includes an extra layer that makes it more resistant to cracking and a better choice for climates with extreme weather. In hot, dry climates with less rainfall, traditional stucco is a suitable and more affordable option that is less likely to trap moisture. Synthetic stucco also offers more color options and requires less maintenance.

The best way to assess that your stucco needs repair is to inspect it, both visually and physically. If you notice cracks, chips, or staining, that’s a good indication that your stucco could use some TLC by a professional. Additionally, if you touch an area that feels soft and has a little “give,” you should consider repairing it as soon as possible to avoid further damage, both to additional stucco spots and to your home’s structure.
