"I am very pleased with the work performed by Chad and his crew. Upon the initial visit for the estimate, I knew that I had the right team on the job. Chad had provided a brilliant fix for a concern of mine. The actual installation and repair was superior. Very happy with all of the folks at One Of A Kind Carpenter, Inc."

"Our church hired The Potter for repairs and roofing. Isaac Vasquez is a top notch project manager who daily made sure that we were satisfied with the progress. As a family business, Isaac, his father Nelson, and uncle Frank worked together as an energetic team. They completed all requested repairs in a professional yet friendly and timely manner. We will definitely hire these guys in the future."

"Excellent service. Professional - the person that gave the quote explained everything very clearly. The Installer (garage door opener and replacement of some parts on the actual door) was excellent and thorough. Tech cleaned up the wiring that was there and added some reinforcements. The previous door had not been installed very well. (Handyman special maybe?) There was an issue with the new opener kicking the breaker so I had to get an electrician our before I could use it. I went from 1/2 horse to 3/4 horse, which the electrician said I didn't I need due to size of door- 1 car small garage. I had no idea what I really "needed". I would recommend company though I think they are a bit pricey (But generally you get what you pay for.) and I maybe should have researched horse power needs before committing."

"Excellent. They were punctual, efficient, and their work is cleanly installed. They gave me options, and allowed me to decide my preference for the final installation. As an electrical engineer, I am very happy with their work, and I recommend."

"Very well. Of the hundreds of decisions needed to be made during a stressful, complete renovation of a home, hiring Dan with Chase Construction was easily the best decision we made. Very professional, down to earth, honest, highly skilled, very organized. Any problems were corrected immediately. Job site kept clean and neat. Employees and sub-contractors were all top notch and respectful of our property and neighbors. Contractor came up with innovative solutions to unique issues. He has gone above and beyond in service, responsiveness and professionalism."

Garages questions, answered by experts

Provides additional space and enhances property appeal, potentially increasing resale value.

You should let your initial paint job dry at least 12 hours before opening the door. Check your work after 12 hours have passed to confirm there are no uneven patches, or signs of the old paint showing though—if you see any, we recommend applying a second coat of paint and waiting an additional 12 hours for it to dry.

There are three ways to open the garage door when the power is out. One is to invest in a solar panel and battery system or generator backup power. Another method is to use the quick-release key to disconnect the garage door from the garage door opener. You can also use the key to your house to wait out the power outage and reset the garage door opener once the power returns.

If your garage door key is inside your home and you don’t have a spare key on hand to access your entry points, then call a locksmith.

The smallest size a standard 2-car garage can be is 20 feet by 20 feet, so at these dimensions, you could reasonably expect to fit two cars inside. However, it’s going to be a tight fit, especially if you have larger SUVs or pickup trucks. For smaller cars, 20 x 20 should be plenty for parking and some space to maneuver around the cars. A larger garage size would be better to ensure you have room to open the doors and transport groceries or other items around the cars.

Whether a garage or an extra room adds more value depends on several factors, including local market demand, location, and typical buyer preferences. Generally, added living space is highly desirable to most buyers, which can make an extra room more valuable than a traditional garage. The return on investment (ROI) often depends on the utility of the new space; for example, an additional bedroom is typically more valuable than a new living room, and converting a garage into a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom will likely add the most value. A well-designed extra room can also serve specific needs, such as a home office, guest room, or entertainment space. However, adding a garage may be more valuable in areas with limited street parking or harsh climates where protecting a vehicle is a priority.
