"EXCELLENT!!! Miguel is outstanding. He communicated prior to coming so all services would be taken care of. Making sure all equipment was on hand prior to coming or he purchased and I reimbursed once services completed. He attached the antenna on my roof even in the rain. My prior cable company had not wired the house correctly and he was able to fix and rewired that mess to be sure great signal in all my rooms. In addition I had purchased my own Tivo and he set that up for me. He made sure each TV I wanted worked and was set up properly. He is professional, reasonably priced and a pleasure to do business with and would do more in the future if needed. Would definitely recommend him to others!!!!!"

"Very well. Mr. Jano was very punctual and very nice. He checked out the TV, got it working and even advised not to spend anymore money , even though I could with things he suggested, because of the age of the TV. Would recommend Mr. Jano and use him again."

TV Antenna questions, answered by experts

Signal loss, loose mounts, cable damage, and weather-related wear often require repair.

If you’re having problems with poor reception, here are some simple tips that may help improve the signal and picture quality.

  • Consider the position of the antenna: Could it be higher, is it secure, or are nearby obstructions interfering with the signal? For a directional antenna, you may need to reposition it in the direction of the broadcast tower.

  • Move any metallic objects: Metal can interfere or block reception, so if you have stainless steel objects or the antenna is near a wrought-iron fence, this could be a problem. Try to keep the antenna at least six feet away from metal objects..

  • Cable length: An overly long cable can reduce signal strength. If you don’t need as much cable as you are using, it may be better to exchange it for a shorter one.

Before your TV antenna stops working, there are a few ways to tell it’s starting to break. Some common signs that your antenna needs repair include:

  • A repetitive “no signal” issue

  • A redundant “searching” issue

  • Increased signal issues during a cloudy or rainy day

  • A sudden drop in signal strength, regardless of the weather

If you’re experiencing these problems, you’ll want to ensure that your cables are still in good shape and have not deteriorated. In addition, check to make sure that your cables are firmly in place at the wall outlet. Finally, check the position of your antenna to ensure there are no obstructions in its path. If you’ve checked your antenna thoroughly and are still having these problems, a repair is most likely needed by an antenna technician.

Costs range from $100 to $500, depending on the issue, parts needed, and labor.

Yes, in general, raising your TV antenna will improve your reception. Besides raising the location of your antenna, you should try putting it by a window. In fact, you can have the same antenna but get double the channels or more if it's in the best location. The highest spot to put a TV antenna will be on your roof, and the tallest type of outdoor antenna is a tower.
