Small jobs welcome

"Delorn did an excellent job installing the tile in our bathroom. He was very professional, always on time, and paid great attention to detail. The finished work looks incredible and completely transformed the space. His pricing was also extremely fair for the quality of work. I would definitely hire Delorn again and highly recommend him for any tile work."

"I have an 80 year old house with solid white oak flooring that TPA Hardwood restored back to their glory days. We had termite and water damaged areas that Mr. RIOS and his crew were able to replace perfectly with the rest of the house. They were on time and very professional and they kept me informed thru out the scope of the work till the very end. They went above and beyond, and we trusted Ed, with the house while we were away on vacation, and he treated like it was his own. The floors came out amazing!!!!! I highly recommend TPA Hardwood Flooring you will not regret it. Thank Ed"

"These two young men completely transformed our indoor and outdoor kitchen! From the moment they started, you could tell they take real pride in their work. The indoor kitchen looks modern, clean, and perfectly detailed every cabinet line and tile cut is spot on. Outside the kitchen came out amazing solid craftsmanship, great layout, and a beautiful finish that makes the whole backyard beautiful! They were professional, easy to work with, and full of creative ideas that really brought the project to life. It?s rare to find young guys with this much skill, work ethic, and attention to detail. We couldn?t be happier with the results and would recommend them to anyone looking for quality work done right!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

Tile floor installation usually takes about 16 hours of active work along with a couple of days of drying time between tile and grout applications.

The amount of time it takes your installer will depend on many factors, including the square footage of the space, the tile material type, and if they need to make intricate tile cuts.

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.
