"We had a new construction house and Ted did the entire thing. Exterior, interior, staining doors, cabinets…EVERYTHING! They did a phenomenal job. Our ceilings are about 20 Ft up so it was not an easy task but we couldn’t have been happier with Ted and his crew. Would recommend them all day every day!"

"Miguel and crew were awesome! They set a date, showed up on time, and worked all day to get the painting job done. He has since followed up twice and will be making a quick stop by to do perform a few touch ups per our request. We will call Dr Home for our future painting and wood refinishing need. Thank you."

"I recently hired Fresh Coat Painters for an exterior paint job on my home, and I couldn't be more impressed. From the initial consultation to the final walk-through, the team was professional, punctual, and detail-oriented. They helped me choose the right color and finish for Florida weather, and their prep work — including pressure washing, scraping, and caulking — was top-notch. The paint application was clean and even, with sharp lines and no mess left behind. My house looks brand new! I’ve already received compliments from neighbors. Highly recommend Fresh Coat Painters for anyone looking for reliable and high-quality exterior painting."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

Two coats of stain are ideal for the best protection and aesthetic appeal. However, if your decking is made of particularly dense hardwood, you may only need one coat. If you want an intense color, two coats are ideal.

Yes, many repair services include repainting to match the color of the existing siding or walls. Most professionals offer this service to ensure the repaired area blends in seamlessly.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.
