"I couldn't be happier with Sawyer's Tree Works. This morning, they removed a cherry laurel tree. With my neighbor's cooperation and concern for our neighborhood, they also carefully trimmed my neighbor's invasive Chinese tallow (popcorn) tree, all while working around overhead utility lines, garden beds, flowers, shrubs, and landscaping. Not a single flower, plant, or raised garden bed was damaged. They treated my property with genuine care and respect, and their work was meticulous from start to finish. Justin and his crew were professional, efficient, highly skilled, and left everything looking clean and beautiful. It's rare to find a company that combines technical expertise with such careful craftsmanship. If you're looking for a local tree service, I highly recommend Sawyer's Tree Works. Customers say: Quick response

"They cut and removed a massive Oak in my backyard. They were early everyday and worked hard the entire time. Charles climbed way way up in the air and painstakingly cut and lowered the entire tree piece by piece then cleaned and raked and blew my yard everyday. Very kind and respectful. They were early everyday.. I would very Highly recommended them"

"I am very satisfied with the tree cutting work that was done. The crew was courteous and efficient. Mr. Dempsey himself came on site to oversee the job. The price was reasonable. And I will definitely be hiring this company again for a future tree work in my properties."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally, you do not have the right to take fruit from a neighbor's tree, even if the branches overhang your property. The fruit is considered the property of the tree's owner. While you may have the right to trim branches that cross into your yard, the fruit on them typically still belongs to your neighbor. However, laws can vary by state and municipality. In some areas, branches that extend into your yard or trees that straddle a property line may entitle you to some of the fruit. The best course of action is to speak with your neighbor, as they may be happy to share. If a conversation is not possible, check your local regulations before picking any fruit.

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.

Before you cut down a dead palm tree, try to revive it using the methods listed above. However, there are instances when it makes sense to remove a dead palm tree, including:

  • The heavily infected tree will infect nearby trees, bushes, and plants.

  • The palm’s roots are overtaking your yard, foundation, and sidewalk and causing structural damage.

  • The tree is unstable and a hazard to your property, your neighbor’s property, and pedestrians.

It depends on the problem, the affected part of the tree, the risk of the pathogen spreading, and the overall health of your tree. Many diseases, fungal infections, and insect infestations can be successfully treated, especially if the issue is only in a few branches. However, if a disease is too widespread, too severe, too easily spread, or in the roots, the tree will likely need to be removed.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.
