Customers say: Quality work

"Terrance with Low Cost Concrete is the man for your job! After getting a few quotes to replace several sections of my driveway that had cracked over the years, I decided to use Low Cost Concrete and I'm so glad I did. They arrived on time, did what they said they were going to do (even a little extra by removing some unwanted roots nearby) and not only did the finish on time, but the work they did was impeccable. It came out perfect! I would definitely recommend Terrance and his company to handle your concrete work. He's certainly welcome back at my house anytime. Thank you Low Cost Concrete! Tony"

"I initially contacted them to clean up my landscaping. When matt came out he explained how my landscaping was overgrown and could start doing damage to my house. Matt really took the time to show me my options and put together a beautiful landscape design to remove and replace my overgrown landscape. Thanks Matt for truly caring about my property and taking the time to explain everything! It looks great and I couldnâ t be happier!"

"Pleasant as I added driveway to be pressure washed and more picture hangings . Had struggles in time due to store limitations related to COVID19. Not as satisfied with painting but in retrospect I didn't know that I should have communicated that I wanted the old hooks/nails that were painted over to be removed and area repaired as part of the job."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning, sealing, and timely repair of cracks help maintain its condition.

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.

A driveway approach is the part of a driveway where the public road meets the private driveway. This section contains several key elements, including the driveway apron, the curb cut, and the end slope. Depending on the slope of the driveway, this area may also contain the trench drain.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.
