"We are a design/build firm specialized in foundation repairs. We always subcontract with Alpha Foundations/formerly Florida Foundation Authority for all our jobs. They always do an excellent job living up to our high professional engineering standards. The holy renewal crew (Jordan, Garrett, and Nick) just did an excellent job for us, as usual. "Eric from Wesley Hydro Jetting was quick to respond and also able to fix my drain issues without giving me the run around. Or charging me an arm and a leg. He was honest, efficient and great at what he does. I would recommend 100%!"

"Florida Leak Detectors’ Technician, Manny, actually arrived about an hour before the appointment time which was not a problem for me. I was glad that he was able to fit me into his schedule on such short notice. He thoroughly explained how he would pressurize each plumbing line during his testing process. After he performed those diagnostic pressure tests, he donned his scuba gear and inspected every inch of the surface of the pool and the spa as well as the underwater light. It turned out that we not only had more than one leak in the spa jet lines but there was also a leak in the spa drain. Manny did a great job of explaining how to monitor the pool to confirm that the leaking had been fixed. He gave me his card and assured me that if I was not satisfied, I could call him back. But he stated with professional confidence that he did not think that would be necessary. The price was reasonable for the detailed work he performed. I highly recommend Florida Leak Detectors."

Foundation Drain Installation FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, many contractors offer warranties for their work. Confirm terms before starting the project.

Basements with persistent moisture problems or flooding shouldn’t be finished until the moisture issues have been fixed. In addition, if your foundation is cracked, you have unmitigated radon levels, or you have asbestos or lead pipes, remediate the underlying problem before finishing your basement. Turning a basement into living space before fixing these issues can lead to serious health risks or structural damage.

In most cases, a crawl space will not dry out on its own unless the moisture comes from an uncommon flood and isn’t expected to be a recurring issue. For most homeowners, moisture problems in the crawl space will only continue to get worse over time, so addressing the underlying problem with gutter systems or a foundation drainage system and setting up a preventative solution like a dehumidifier is necessary.

French drains, sump pumps, and exterior waterproofing systems are common options. Choose one that best suits your property’s needs.

Ideally, your sump pump discharge should run down a natural downhill slope 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. However, if your property is naturally flat, that might not be an option. Instead, you may be able to discharge it into a neighborhood storm drain or a nearby creek or pond. If that’s not possible, consider burying it underground.
