After calling multiple times they finally contact me 5 months later to say the part arrived and they would be out in a couple weeks to finish the repair. That was Sept and now it is mid-Dec 2020 and never called back to finish the job. Fast to cash the check, but 8 months later, still haven't completed the job."

"Decided to drop us as customers without telling us. Charged us for April and then didn't provide basic services like pool sweeping for three weeks. He ignored our emails and calls asking about continuation of service for weeks. By the time we realized that he wasn't going to come anymore our pool had deteriorated significantly. When we complained about this behavior he responded in his email "Life is gonna ***** slap the stupid out of you." This guy is the most confrontational "professional" I've ever dealt with."

This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants. 

  • These stones can get hot and scorch nearby plants. 

  • River stones may heat the surrounding soil to inhospitable temperatures. 

  • Rocks can block rainwater from seeping into the ground if installations are too thick or tightly packed.

Most downsides occur when using river rock as mulch in gardens and flower beds. However, you can still incorporate river rocks into your landscape as long as you use them in the correct ways.

In addition to length and width, pond liners also come in various thickness levels. Thickness is measured in mils, a unit of measurement equal to one-thousandth of an inch, with most pond liners ranging from 15 to 60 mils in thickness. The smaller the number, the thinner (and weaker) the liner. To prevent rips and tears, it’s best to choose a pond liner that’s at least 30 mils thick.

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.

Smaller, pondless water features like bird baths, self-contained fountains, and bubbling rocks are much lower maintenance than their counterparts that include ponds. Pondless features help you avoid high pond maintenance costs and allow you to spend more time enjoying the water feature and less time on upkeep.
