"Bentley's Lawn Care is hands down the best. I work fulltime and take care of my husband (post-stoke) on my off days. I did not have the time to do the sesonal yard clean up. My yard was out of control and very overgrown. I'm sure my neighbors were not pleased that my yard looked so bad. Drew came in and cleaned up my whole yard and made it look so great again. I hired him on to contniue yard services. I could not be happier with the level of services provided as well as the quality. I would defenitly recommend him for all your lawn care needs. Thanks so much Drew!!"

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Though there are a lot of factors that go into caring for a koi pond, the most important maintenance you can do is frequent water checks using a koi pond test strip that checks the water for dangerous conditions.  In addition to regular pond maintenance costs, you’ll also need to winterize your koi pond if you live in a colder area.

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.

Most home misters use several cups of water in a couple of minutes, or around a gallon per hour of use. That varies greatly depending on the size of the system and the power of the pump. If you are using professional services, you should ask about water use for your planned system when you’re getting an estimate. If you are using a water tank, make sure it’s filled before operation.

When deep cleaning your koi pond, transfer fish to a clean, uncontaminated container at least one foot deep, like a large bucket, tub, or kiddie pond. Fill the container with their existing pond water to avoid shocking them, and place the container in full or partial shade. When it’s time to reintroduce them into the pond, slowly add the new water to the container before adding the fish and container water back into the pond.

Algae growth is a common issue for misters, but you can do several things to prevent it. First, use a sealed water tank with distilled or filtered water to fuel your misters. Second, blow out the misters after every use so no water is left in the tubing. Third, thoroughly clean the misting system every several weeks of use at minimum during the warmest months. Third, wherever possible positioning tubing and the water tank away from direct sunlight and in the coolest areas possible.
