"I could not recommend a better company for asbestos removal. We bought a new house and found asbestos under all the old flooring, everything had to go. Steve was very friendly and came all the way out to our area to take a look and give us a proposal quickly. Pricing was good. The work was easily scheduled and very well done. They took the proper safety steps and even had a third party come do air samples to make sure no asbestos was in the air. We even called them back for another job a few weeks later. They were just as prompt, friendly, and thorough as the first time. Don't bother looking for other companies, go with this one and save yourself the time."

"Excellent work. John News was very responsive right from the start. He and his workers removed all the carpet and the asbestos floor tiles that were the culprit. They arrived on time and finished the work leaving me a clean room and a certificate indicating the air levels at completion. My daughter in law had rejected living there when she was informed by a carpet salesperson that under the carpet in the family room were asbestos tiles. Now the room is asbestos free and my family is moving in next week. Thanks so much to John News and Roe Services. I would use them or recommend to anyone who is in need of this service. ???"

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

When planning for lead testing and removal, you must account for several unexpected expenses. Post-project clearance examinations by a separate inspector add extra fees to your budget. In dense Wilmington neighborhoods, contaminated soil excavation around your foundation is another common surprise expense. If your project involves replacing heavily coated windows or requires temporary family relocation during full abatement, your overall financial investment will increase significantly.

Helpful?

After completing lead testing and removal via encapsulation, you must perform strict annual visual inspections. Wilmington experiences intense freeze-thaw cycles and humid summers that severely stress interior and exterior paint. Inspect all treated window sills, door frames, and high-moisture bathroom areas for bubbling or peeling. Additionally, you must maintain all landscaping barriers over treated soil and safely store your hazard control records for future property sales.

Helpful?

Before scheduling lead testing and removal, you must handle deteriorated paint with extreme care. We recommend wet-wiping minor peeling areas with a damp cloth instead of dry dusting to prevent airborne hazards. For larger flaking spots caused by harsh DE winters, seal the area tightly using heavy plastic sheeting and painter's tape. Never use heat guns, sanders, or power tools on pre-1978 painted surfaces.

Helpful?

A major mistake homeowners make during lead testing and removal is assuming a remodeled 1970s rowhouse is completely safe. Cosmetic updates hide dangerous older paint layers. Another critical error involves scraping deteriorating window frames during spring maintenance without realizing it creates toxic dust. Finally, you must never throw abatement debris into standard Wilmington trash, as state regulations require strict disposal methods for contaminated waste.

Helpful?

Yes, you have excellent eco-friendly choices for lead testing and removal in Wilmington. We recommend asking certified specialists about XRF testing, which is completely non-destructive and creates zero chemical waste. For the removal phase, Delaware regulations allow encapsulation and enclosure as safe interim controls. These low-impact methods seal the hazard and significantly reduce airborne dust and debris compared to full paint stripping.
