I needed a gas line removed and a duct vent relocated in my laundry room, zoom drain came, assessed the job and gave me a reasonable price to fit the job. Sink was COMPLETELY stopped up. Service person (Doug) seemed to be nice; first emptying the sink of water, then getting out his snake to get to work. Shortly, from another room, I heard moans and groans from the kitchen. Asking what was wrong, I learned that his snake had gotten stuck and he couldn't get it out. He went downstairs to the basement to work on trying to retrieve the snake cable from the cleanout down there, below the sink. He told me that on occasion, he's had to take out pipes between the kitchen sink and the basement sewer line in order to get his cable back, and that would cost upwards of above $600. He eventually retrieved his cable, but explained that it had gotten stuck because I had allowed the buildup of years and years of grease in the kitchen, and because I was foolish enough to have a garbage disposal, which allows the grease to build. He told me he had a drain cleaning powder that I could use to keep the drain clean, and one box would cost $50. I thanked him, but refused the offer. He did make it so the water would indeed go down the drain in the sink, now, and I can use my dishwasher. He was at the house for approximately 1 hr and 15 minutes, charging $457.50. Excessive, in my opinion. It's not my fault that his snake was caught (if it really was).

Is the drain clean? Cleaner than it was this morning, yes.

Will water go down? Yes. For now.

Would I recommend anyone using Chas. Moon Plumbing? Not unless you have a healthy bank account.

Will I ever call on them again? No.

Moon & Company called today (Service Manager) and graciously offered a 15% discount for the service that I had here at the house, as described above. I thought that was very nice and generous of him/the company, and promised that I would report same.

"The work was completed quickly and successfully. My issue is with the pricing and the sales tactics. The technician initially said it would cost $439 to clear a drain, then said there was a $50 coupon that he d apply that takes it down to $389. To clear a drain!? So when I said no, he called his manager and got last months discount of $199. In the meantime he also informed us that he was a professional. In the end, we paid the $199 and it took him about 20 minutes to clear the drain. That's $600 / hour - pretty good return. I'm a professional too, but have never been billed at even $200 per hour. If he had just started at the $199, I probably would be writing a 4.5 star review. To me, even $199 is high to clear a drain, but it's probably consistent with other local companies. And I wouldn't have felt that I needed to negotiate to get a reasonable price."

"My experience with this company and the water solutions that they provided was phenomenal. Even though our home was quite a ways away from their normal service area, they were still able to send a team member, Zoe, out the next day to do a test of our well water. Zoe went through all of the different tests and thoroughly explained the results every step of the way. The next day they were able to send out a team to install the recommended water softening and filtration solutions. The guys that came out to do this work were quick, clean, and able to answer any of our questions. We could feel and taste the difference in our water immediately. We don't have to use as much soap for the dishes or for the shower as we used to thanks to all the hardness being filtered out. Our hair and skin feels much cleaner after a shower. The water not only tastes better, but we feel more at ease drinking it. My morning coffee tastes so much better and is much stronger than before (so now I can use less coffee). Ultimately, I highly recommend this company if you want to have a test done of your water quality are considering a water filtration system."
