You should only paint over wallpaper if removing it would damage the wall, the surface is relatively smooth, or there are minimal problem areas—such as slight peeling and lifted seams—that you can fix easily. While peel-and-stick wallpapers require no time to cure, the adhesives for other types of papers will take a day or two to dry and up to three weeks to fully cure. The differences are the type of paper, the type of adhesive, and the humidity and temperature in the space.

You can reattach peeling peel-and-stick wallpaper using a commercial wallpaper adhesive. Make sure to choose an option that is repositionable and temporary, especially if you are concerned about wall damage. Or, you can remove the peeling panel and replace it with a new roll of the same peel-and-stick wallpaper design.
