I paint cabinets; typically the cabinets that I am painting are wood or melamine, with a laquered surface. I take down the doors and drawer faces and bring them home to spray with shellac primer and Benjamin Moore Aura non-toxic paints. "Silver Gates was the company that responded when I purchased a new oven from Home Depot in West Hartford. Installer had a totally incompetent assistant who broke the glass door on my old oven as he was pulling it out, and did a half-hearted job of cleaning up the broken glass mess on the kitchen floor. He even had to ask me for a dustpan and brush. I found bits of broken glass everywhere for weeks. The installer had to enlarge the existing space for the oven and did a very sloppy job leaving an inch wide gap between the oven trim and the wallboard. They charged me an extra $150 for the three minutes of work it took to enlarge the opening. Total ripoff. Don’t use Silver Gates. And don’t use Home Depot “recommended contractors” for appliance installation. Also don’t pay Home Depot to pick up your old appliance either. They charged me $25 to pick up the old appliance but nobody ever showed up despite several complaints. Ended up paying Paine’s to haul it away."
