"Ken and his helper were amazing. Ken came out to recommend and quote light fixtures in our unfinished basement, connect a couple of Ring floodlights, and replace the doorbell transformer and install a new Ring doorbell at my residence. Ken's work is clean, fast, and reasonably priced! I would absolutely hire him again!"

"The job was to clear out most of the old plantings in a landscape bed with a mini-excavator; repair the boulder wall that supported the bed; and install new plants per their design proposal. Everything went to plan. They were a six man crew that focused on the job and finished in about 6 hours -- including repairing the yard area where the mini-excavator was operating. Will definitely use them again!"

"1) SOS electric arrived 1 hr after my call and identified quickly the small fire at the back of the motor as the cause of dead filtration system of my inground swimming pool. Fire was caused by inproper contacts between the switch and the motor. SOS Electric replaced partially burned contact into proper one and soon filtration system was up and running. 2) Light over garage door didn’t have motion sensor. SOS Electric went to Home Depot and got the new light with motion sensor. Soon it was installed properly, adjusted to optimal sensitivity and works perfectly."

"Jay prepared my previous home for sale by performing professional landscaping with edging, mulch beds, and plantings and installation of a new walkway and stylish gravel firepit area. As well, he has professionally landscaped my new home in Simsbury CT with perennial gardens, mulch beds, stone beds, garden beds, decorative lanterns, lawn maintenance and expert excavation and removal of debris, gaining another 25 feet of yard living space. He's very knowledgeable in his craft and I receive compliments of my yard's appearance, regularly. I would highly recommend Jay!!"

"The salesman explained that we had to also buy end caps, leaders and elbows to complete the job. It was exactly what we needed for our 50 foot garage. The salesman & installers were extremely nice, However, on one side of the garage, one of the gutters were pitched incorrectly, so it retained water. They did return and corrected the pitch."

Exterior Lighting questions, answered by experts

Although security lighting may not deter a determined burglar, its presence will make your property that much less enticing to would-be trespassers. When paired with other types of home security systems like alarms and surveillance cameras, strong lights will better help you and the authorities identify thieves in the instance they attempt to break in or succeed at doing so.

While wet-rated and damp-rated lighting is designed to handle contact with moisture, there’s a difference between the two. Wet-rated lighting is safety-rated to be placed in areas with direct exposure to water, including your shower. Fixtures classed as wet-rated are made with waterproof seals to protect the filament and other electrical components from water and moisture.

Damp-rated fixtures can be used in places with some moisture contact, but not direct exposure. They don’t have the same waterproof seals used in wet-rated fixtures. Damp-rated lighting can be used on your bathroom ceiling or along a wall outside of your shower.

Outdoor lighting repairs typically take between 1-3 hours. The exact duration can vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the problem, the extent of the damage, and the ease of access to the lighting fixtures and wiring.

Flickering lights, intermittent outages, or physical damage to fixtures signal immediate repair to avoid electrical hazards.

The cost to repair outdoor lighting typically ranges from $100 to $400. The final price depends on the severity of the damage, the specific issue, the type of lighting system, and the parts needed. Some repairs are priced per fixture, averaging $100 to $300, and there may be additional fees if the lighting is difficult to access.
