Small jobs welcome

"I hired Ron's Masonry for yard work on May 27th, 2024. They helped me out when my original contractor refused to get back to me regarding my lawn and hedge situation. I cannot say it enough. Ron's Masonry is dependable and did an amazing job and saved me a lot of money and embarrassment. I will be recommending them to anyone who needs a hand. 5 star service.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ And I will be using them again. -Edward Coke, Stamford Connecticut resident"

"Sur Fence put in a new 12' cedar gate for the driveway. Working with Xavier was great. He's an excellent, consistent communicator. And also (seemed to) enjoy the creative process of my questioning and refinement of the gate's design. He was comfortable using photos as inspiration and developing a design that worked for my circumstances and budget. There were some areas I pushed him beyond the normal conventions of gate design (like size of main pillars and mix of materials). He always kindly shared his concerns and the norms of past customers, but never failed to find a way forward once he understand my aims. Many, many compliments on the gate and we've started a 200' cedar fencing project to do it justice. Highly recommend him and his crew."

"I am hiring Northwind for two additional projects. They do beautiful work and they follow through and follow up. My only issue was that the project should have started in the summer, did not start til October and was finished at the beginning of January. We really couldnâ t use it til the spring."

"Brennan and crew installed a stone wall and walkway in 2016. They have come back twice for repairs, most recently for a small portion of the stone wall where the rocks had come loose and fallen out. He responded promptly and sent someone over to fix it within just a couple of weeks. it looks great. highly recommend them."

"Everything went smoothly and beautifully.
They were professional, courteous, reliable, and good natured.
Everything that they worked on and built looks great and functions well.

We had one tweak that we needed on the wrought iron fence and they made the correction without an increase in price or a complaint. True professionals who take pride in their work.

Wrought Iron FAQs, answered by experts

The ideal distance between fence posts depends on several factors, including the terrain, the purpose of the fence, and the material used. For different types of fences, here are some general guidelines:

  • Wood and Metal Fences: Posts should be spaced between 5 and 8 feet apart.

  • Vinyl Fences: Spacing can be between 6 and 8 feet.

  • Chain-Link, Mesh, or Lattice Fences: Posts can be set anywhere from 4 to 25 feet apart, with 4-10 feet being common for chain-link.

  • Wire Fences: Spacing can be up to 12 feet apart.

You can buy wrought iron fencing from a trusted fence installation company near you. You could also opt to buy it privately from a homeowner who is interested in recycling their own wrought iron materials. Manufacturers stopped mass production of wrought iron as steel became more affordable to produce, so you likely won't find it in any local big box stores.

The depth of the fence posts depends on the height of your fence. If you’re installing a 6-foot fence, then digging 2-foot-deep holes for the fence posts will help ensure a secure installation. However, if you’re installing an 8-foot fence, the posts will need to be deeper than 2 feet to support the structure properly. Also, consider how far apart the fence posts should be to provide adequate support.

Installation typically takes 2-5 days, depending on the fence size and site conditions.

Wrought iron fencing is the most expensive type of fence. Expect to pay between about $25 to $35 per linear foot for a wrought iron fence panel. The cost of installing a wood fence varies depending on the quality of the wood, but you can expect to pay between $1 and $15 per linear foot for the lumber.
