Small jobs welcome

"Sando is the best, he replaced three bathroom counter tops for me. He removed all of the old counters and my new ones are outstanding. I had many choices of slabs to pick from and the quality of the stone is superb. Sando is very patient and meticulously neat. He was on time and went out of the way for me to measure and install my last countertop because I had a problem with my cabinets. I will have another job coming up soon and he will be my first call. Thanks Sando"

"John came to our house to give us an estimate which we thought was very fair. He helped my wife select a nice countertop, and he came in and removed the old countertop one day and was in the next day to install the new countertop. Excellent work and I would definitely recommend him for anyone else looking to have this kind of work done!"

"Hired Peter Smith Painting for multiple jobs including exterior painting, deck cleaning, interior painting, sheetrock repair, and window installation. Each crew was professional and clean. They made sure to be respectful of neighborhood noise ordinances when using power washers for outdoor work. Paint work was good quality with nice attention to detail including sanding/scraping and identifying/replacing rotten wood. I found the pricing to be very competitive and Peter is good with timely correspondence and working around conflicting schedules."

"Ben just installed my granite countertop today and it is beautiful! The quality of their work is apparent. I did lots of research, and Celtic granite was the first to respond with a bid, gave me the lowest price, and had the most color options. Ben stayed in touch with me regularly to answer my questions and talk about my options. He made sure to schedule my template and install as soon as I was ready. I could not be happier with their service and would recommend this company again and again!"

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

There are several mistakes you should avoid when using butcher block countertops. Don't place hot pots or pans directly on the surface, as this can crack the wood and cause permanent damage. Avoid leaving wet items sitting on the surface, and wipe up liquids as soon as possible to avoid stains.

Yes, you can put hot pans directly on Dekton without causing any damage. Dekton countertops are extremely dense, which makes them highly resistant to heat. This density also makes Dekton nonporous and water-resistant.

Yes, it is often possible to replace an undermount sink without removing the countertop, but success can depend on the countertop material. For materials like granite, the process is relatively straightforward. However, laminate or uniquely shaped countertops might need to be removed or modified.

The process typically involves shutting off the water supply, disconnecting the drain and plumbing pipes, cutting through the old silicone seal, and carefully lowering the sink from below. This requires a good understanding of plumbing and the right tools. If you are not confident in performing the replacement yourself, it is recommended to hire a countertop specialist or a plumber to handle the task.

Butcher block countertops are durable, but wood is generally susceptible to extreme heat, so you should avoid placing hot pots and pans directly on a butcher block counter. This will likely cause some aesthetic damage in the form of scorch marks. Instead, invest in some trivets and put your hot cookware on top of them.

Recycled glass countertops can last between 10 and 20 years with regular care and maintenance. The exact lifespan depends on the binding agent used; acrylic is a highly durable choice, while concrete may shorten the countertop's life. Because the material is non-porous, it is heat-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to clean, allowing it to withstand the rigors of a modern kitchen without showing significant wear and tear for over a decade.
