"Excellent. We added a bathroom and a bedroom, took down paneling and completely redid the family room. These guys did all the electrical work, plumbing work, flooring, painting and everything else. Amazing communication, stayed on budget, worked very well with us and the work was done quickly and exactly as described. Any issues were immediately dealt with. Any questions were immediately answered. Would absolutely work with these guys again and would recommend them!"

"Ravin did a spectacular job. The workmanship is spectacular, from the footings and framing to the details of the decking itself. You can see photos of our deck on Ravin's landing page here: [*** Link removed ***] Kevin and his team were on site at 6:45 every workday and were focused and highly professional. I've done a number of building projects in the 40+ years I've lived here and Ravin is by far the finest construction company I've ever worked with. It's nice to know I never have to look for another builder. I have a hay barn in the planning stages and I'll only have it built by Ravin."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Any issue that affects the structural integrity or soundness of a home is considered a structural issue. In addition to foundation cracks, other signs of structural issues include roof leaks, bowing walls, sloping floors, gaps around windows and doors, and more.

While most house creaking is expected to some extent and under normal conditions, it's not a good idea to ignore new noises. If other problems accompany the creakiness, like cement cracks, wobbly or loose stair components, or moving trimwork, it's time to look into the potential for foundation trouble or other structural problems.

The best way to know if your beams still provide adequate support is to consult a structural engineer. Structural beams can crack and even sag over time but may still be structurally sound. Keep an eye out for signs of issues in your home, such as sagging floors or ceilings, major cracks in your ceiling and walls, or signs of water damage around a weight-bearing wall.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.

Rotting wood, frame misalignment, or damaged seals often require attention.
