HARP Home Services, LLC is here to take care of all your heating and air conditioning needs. "This is the latest after HARP has been out to try and fix an AC system they installed. Mind you 4 different technicians have been to the property and none seem to have been informed on the repair or what it would take to fix it. I had another AC company come out an inspect the unit HAAP installed. This is what the report stated: ent to look at heat pump system in the apartment. Outside I found the condenser line set to be kinked, uninsulated, the wrong size and the system to already have dye added to the system so someone has tried to leak check the system. The problem with the dye is that it should never be used in a system because it contaminates the refrigerant and the oil in the unit, these actions have taken years off the operation of the unit. Inside starting at the thermostat to be wired incorrectly which may be a leading cause to why the system is running incorrectly. Also found that part of the ductwork was cut out of the way by the previous company and they did not put the duct work back together and in fact just covered the whole on the end of the duct. The line-set is wrong as it is suppose to be 3/8 3/4 line-set and it is only 1/4 1/2 line-set which leads to less life of the system and improper running of the system. In order to fix the system we would have to reclaim any refrigerant from the system and then un do the brazed connections, run line hide, drill out the building pull new thermostat wire and a new line-set between the two units, braze pull a vacuum, charge the system and then re wire the system. Also this would not insure proper running of the system because the system has already been damaged from the improper installation Task # EHR-100 RRL-160 RRL-170 LNS-110 LST-100 Description Rewire Low and/or High Voltage - Indoor Equipment : - Sometimes, an event occurs which may damage the wiring to a component in your system. There are two types: high-voltage (running motors, for example) and low voltage (usually running indoor thermostats). Repairing the damaged wiring will allow voltage to operate inside of the indoor unit. Add Initial lb of R-410A Refrigerant : - The refrigerant system is a "closed-loop system" meaning that it does not require being "topped off" like a gas tank. In fact, in most cases, the refrigerant in the system will actually last longer than the system. If the system requires additional refrigerant to be added, it usually means there is a leak in the system. It is important that the leak is located and repaired before the refrigerant is added. This is for the initial pound of refrigerant in order to start diagnosing the system, however, more may be necessary. Add R-410A Refrigerant Each Additional lb : Additional refrigerant was necessary. Refrigerant Handling Lineset - 50 Foot : The lineset is the copper tubing that connects the indoor coil for the air conditioning unit to the outdoor condensing unit. Sometimes it is possible to re-use an existing lineset. We recommend replacing the lineset where accessible. In some situations when the old unit fails it can contaminate the tubing. Reconnecting the tubing to a new system can shorten the life of the equipment. Repair Line Set : - If the line set is leaking refrigerant or has other issues, such as a kink in the line, repair may be an option, instead of replacement. includes pump down of system, pressure test, vacuum and testing the system. additional refrigerant NOT included. No one from HARP will return my calls at this point. My next step is to take them to Court to get my money back and find a reputable AC company that can perform the work and actually have technicians that know what they are doing. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL cost. They are rip off artist."

"If I could give R. Pelton Builders, Inc. negative stars I would. I have worked with many contractors, architects, engineers and developers in my life good and bad. R. Pelton Builders, Inc. could be one of if not the worst company I have ever had the unfortunate privilege to work with. After signing up with them, they wasted almost 2 months of my time, misrepresenting timelines and expertise, mismanaging the process, communication and making multiple false statements along the way. I was clear from the outset that the time frame install the system was critical. They told me multiple times that permits had been filed when, in reality they never filed them at all. They did not even know the process to file permits in my town (another thing they had represented they had experience with) and did not even contact the town until the week we had initially targeted for the install. They told me they understood and had experience with Solar batteries. I had to design this part of the system myself because they had no clue what they were doing and were not even capable of effectively working with the vendor to design and solve for any issues that arose. They were terrible with communication, often telling me they would get back to me and never doing so. I had to chase them all the time. When you are spending any amount this would be unacceptable. I was spending over $100,000. 2 months into the agreement, after bailing on a site visit that I rearranged my schedule for, Michael P then called me to state that they would not install what they had agreed to and that Steve P (the owner) was no longer going to offer batteries as he did not trust them. But then I should just do the solar alone with them. I was clear from the beginning that the point of the project was to have a back up system not just a solar system. It seems to me that their plan from the beginning was to tell me what I wanted to hear and then pull the rug out from under me when the timing was such that I was in jeopardy of losing the full Federal Tax Credit and potentially the State incentives in hopes that I would adjust the install to solar only. Ultimately, they gave me no confidence that they were going to be able to successfully and properly install solar either. In my option and experience they are not to be trusted. My experience with them is that they are incredibly disorganized and inept, often gave me false and misleading statements and have real issues communicating at any level that would be considered acceptable. They also showed zero respect for my time or following through on what they had committed to do. All of this resulted in me losing time, money and expending a tremendous amount of effort for ultimately no reason. Simply horrendous on every level and I could not recommend a company less then R. Pelton Builders, Inc."

An energy audit costs about $420 on average, ranging from $100 to $2,250, depending on the size of your home, property, location, and the tests the auditor needs to perform. Keep in mind that the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act’s Energy Efficient Home Improvement credit covers up to $150 of home energy audit costs. Common energy audit tests include:
Blower door test: $350
Duct testing: $100
HERS test: $375
HERS certification: $200
Infrared imaging: $200
To find a reputable energy auditor, find a local company that offers energy audit services. Research the company’s reviews, methods, and certifications to find a reliable professional in your area. The most reputable energy audit companies are HEP-certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local energy auditor guidelines to ensure you’re hiring a certified professional.
The difference between an energy auditor and a home inspector is primarily in the purpose of the inspection. The energy auditor conducts tests in your home to determine the energy efficiency levels in areas like windows, insulation, and doorways. The auditor then makes recommendations for ways to improve a home’s energy efficiency.
A home inspector examines various structures of your home to determine that everything is up to code and gauge the condition of features like the roof, foundation, HVAC, and electrical. The home inspector reports on the overall home and makes repair recommendations.
Typically, a local home energy auditor is responsible for performing energy audits. A home energy auditor will conduct one of three energy audits designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to determine the energy efficiency of your home. The auditor often provides analysis that can help guide changes and improvements to your home for better energy efficiency, giving recommendations as necessary.
The three levels of home energy audits include:
Level 1: Review of your energy bills and home for signs of energy inefficiency and areas for improvement. The average cost range is $0.08 to $0.12 per square foot.
Level 2: A level 2 ASHRAE energy audit costs $0.12 and $0.35 per square foot. In-depth analysis of your energy usage and provides a report of cost-saving changes.
Level 3: Comprehensive analysis and detailed recommendations for ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency. A level 3 audit costs about $0.36 to $0.50 per square foot.
