"I have 16 year old awnings from this provider and they have held up well. As they have seen neglect over the past few years I had some questions on how to repair and maintain them. When I called with some questions they offered to come out and take a look at them; based on my availability. The owner showed up gave me a quote for some repairs and showed me how to do them myself if I was so inclined. The service on every level was outstanding and I will be doing work with them again in the future!"

"My roof was leaking and I called Nanfito as they have a good reputation and I had them do some smaller jobs for me before which they did well. Alan told me that patching would be iffy and might not work and it would be best to get a new roof. I had already determined I wanted a new roof, so no problem there and I got a winter discount on top of that. The roofing was delivered and a week later the crew showed up and went at it. They did it all in ONE DAY! That was amazing. They cleaned up really well and the roof looked wonderful. I was very pleased."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Stainless steel and copper are the most durable and will probably last the longest, especially when you compare them to fabric awnings. Steel is the most popular if your budget isn’t a top priority, but some people prefer copper awnings over steel because they are lighter, which makes them easier to install. Aluminum offers a more budget-friendly metal awning option that is still attractive and offers some durability, especially compared to fabric.

Metal awnings last much longer than fabric thanks to their durability and resistance to fading, sun damage, and damage from the outside elements. They also need less maintenance than fabric options. Both items add curb appeal to your home, but you shouldn't expect either type of awning to add property value to your home.

It depends on how you’ll use it. Both awnings and pergolas create shelter in outdoor areas, but pergolas have grid-style roofs, which are more open than awnings and not as effective at blocking out UV rays and precipitation. Also, pergolas are permanent structures, so you can’t put them away when you aren’t using them (unlike retractable awnings).

Awnings offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced summer home cooling costs with lower solar heat gains

  • Protection from sun, rain, and snow damage

  • Increased curb appeal for your home

Keep in mind that awnings also have drawbacks, including the potential to reduce your view, block natural light, and create new occasional home maintenance needs.

Costs range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design.
