"Drain works was quick to contact me to set up a visit the very next day. Stefan was on time, professional and personable. He checked out the clog/slow drain we had in our shower tub and gave me the options and prices available. He took care of the blockage and I’m happy to say I’m no longer swimming in my tub when showering! Their company also offered an annual membership, which I took and got the benefits right away. The peace of mind alone was worth the extra money. I hope to not need to hire them again, but they’d be the first I call if I have another clogged up drain."

"We had to put a new drain line in that had a better slope, and Joe did a great job! He had to climb through a hole and work in a crawl space, not a fun job. Took a bout 3 hours, but the wife is very happy...happy wife happy husband and life!!! Would highly recommend Joe and his company ASAP for drains, and any service including frozen pipes, and replacement if needed."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Some homeowners use additives every month to help septic system performance, but according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the effectiveness of septic system and leach field additives is unknown. Further, additives made with organic solvents or alkali chemicals can actually be harmful to the necessary bacteria in a septic system.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.

Professionals use snakes, hydrojetting, or chemical cleaners to clear blockages effectively without damaging pipes.

You’ll need to stop or pause the machine using its control panel to start the draining process mid-cycle. Remove the items inside, turn off the power to the machine, and then follow the steps above to drain the machine manually.

The drain pump will naturally make a standard operational and draining sound several times throughout your dishwasher cycle. If you hear abnormally loud sounds like scraping, grinding, or clicking, you may have food debris or a piece of glass stuck in your drain filter. Avoid dishwasher repair by always scraping food off your dishes and loading the racks correctly.
