A representative came out a few days later and sat down with me to explain the different windows and process. We judged quality of manufacturer by the material, by the history and size of the manufacturer's company, and by reviews of the product on the web. We judged quality of installer by the size of the company, the length of time in business, whether their own employees installed the windows, and their investment in a nice showroom.
The salesperson was knowledgeable and gave us a written quote that day, along with references. The brand, Simonton, gets good reviews on the web. But V. Nanfito has no showroom, so there was nowhere that we could actually see the windows. That seemed odd.
When we learned that for about the same price we could get well-reviewed fiberglass windows from a large, well-respected company with a showroom where we could see the windows, that's the way we went.
