Small jobs welcome

"I actually needed a pond removed, but Jeff was FANTASTIC. Quick, efficient and beautiful work. He did what he said he was going to do, on time and well. I'd definitely use him again, and recommend him to others."

"Richard Pippenger completely rebuilt, upgraded and enlarged a small, poorly designed pond and waterfall with terrific results. His estimate was extremely fair, his aesthetic judgment was excellent, his work was meticulous, and his manner was relaxed and good humored but always professional. He delivered more than he promised, clearing and regrading the area around the pond and incorporating and extending an existing stone wall into the design. He was communicative and collaborative throughout. His expertise on everything from fish and plants to equipment and stonework made talking with him an education. I can't recommend him highly enough."

"Marino's has always been incredibly responsive and customer satisfaction oriented.  The workers are very nice to deal with and they know what they're doing.  I've had many emergency water outages and a couple of basement floods caused by rain, and the Marino's folks are always there to help whether it's Sunday night or some other odd time.  I've never had to wait when I've had an emergency.  I highly recommend them.

"Marcos and his crew redid my back patio by pitching it away from the house so water would drain . He also added on to the patio using both my pavers and additional ones . He used Belgian blocks as an edge. Most importantly, he fit pieces perfectly around areas which could not use a whole paver. Magnificent job all around."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

You can choose several types of fountains to add to your backyard, ranging in size, number of basins, and special water features.

Check out the price ranges of common fountain types:

  • Birdbath fountains: $40 to $1,100

  • Cascading fountains: $40 to $2,000

  • Tiered fountains: $100 to $6,000

  • Kugel fountains: $150 to $5,000

  • Glass wall fountains: $100 to $3,000

Most pond installations take 3-10 days, depending on excavation, liner placement, and filtration setup.

Algae growth is a common issue for misters, but you can do several things to prevent it. First, use a sealed water tank with distilled or filtered water to fuel your misters. Second, blow out the misters after every use so no water is left in the tubing. Third, thoroughly clean the misting system every several weeks of use at minimum during the warmest months. Third, wherever possible positioning tubing and the water tank away from direct sunlight and in the coolest areas possible.

After you fill in your pool, you can add trees and plants that help stabilize the soil. You might decide not to fill it in at all and find another use for the sunken area instead. A few ideas include creating a seating area or garden inside the empty pool. Depending on its size, you could create a place to roller-skate or install basketball hoops for an unconventional court.

Smaller, pondless water features like bird baths, self-contained fountains, and bubbling rocks are much lower maintenance than their counterparts that include ponds. Pondless features help you avoid high pond maintenance costs and allow you to spend more time enjoying the water feature and less time on upkeep.
