"I hired Adam and his team to frame and install my new kitchen including framing out a new pantry in a very difficult space as well as install a slider and reconfigure some walls. I am so pleased with the result. His attention to detail and work ethic are a rare find. I would recommend anyone needing any carpentry, framing, windows and doors work to contact him, you will not be disappointed."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Arnaldo and his crew did an awesome job on fixing a bouncy floors, sheetrocking, removing/fixing odd and shoddily done things that were done by the previous owner that made the floorplan unworkable, laying new floors and making our house beautiful! He was honest with quoting the work that had to be done and was very responsive and timely. Was courteous and cleaned up after every days work and did a good job in a reasonable amount of time. I would definitely hire him again if we need work done in the future."

"This kitchen tiling project by Cross Tiles exceeded my expectations in every respect. What began as a straightforward installation revealed an unanticipated structural subfloor issue, yet the team addressed it with technical expertise and practical judgment. They implemented a sound repair solution, and did so at a very reasonable cost—without inflating the scope or disrupting the overall project plan. Their adherence to the original timeline was impressive, especially given the additional subfloor work. Throughout the project, communication was consistent and proactive. They checked in on small details to ensure alignment with my preferences, demonstrating both precision and respect for the homeowner’s perspective. Workmanship was excellent: tile alignment, grout lines, and finishing transitions were executed with care and craftsmanship. Cleanup was thorough at the end of each day, leaving the space orderly and minimizing household disruption."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Lack of durability is the most significant downside of painting tile. However, a painted tile backsplash doesn't see the same kind of action as, say, painted flooring tiles. For backsplashes, the durability of the finish is crucial because they often require cleaning. However, you can minimize the durability problem by using mild cleaners and water on the painted surfaces.

Yes, but you’ll have to use some other type of tool to avoid damaging the tile and possibly injuring yourself. Some alternatives to tile cutters include a glass cutter, angle grinder, and wet saw. Depending on the tile material, you might simply be able to measure and score it with something sharp, like a carbide-tipped pencil, and break it off. Be sure to sand the edge for a smooth installation.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.
