"Had a stink bug issue - Came and did the work (with apporpriate warnings of how hard they are to control.) Were prompt and helpful. Thought they were going monthly but then they stopped after a couple of visits...not sure what happened."

"I called every bug place in Connecticut on a Saturday night with an urgent need and Mr. Humphrey was the only one who would come. He said, Maam, I'll be there in an hour. He was there in less than an hour and he went above and beyond the call of duty. I was so grateful. His fee was more than fair. Next time I need an exterminator, I will only be making one phone call."

"This review is long over due. I spoke to Dave about a big problem with aggressive yellow jackets entering my home through the fireplace. He was at my door in a couple hours. He was extremely accommodating, and the price was fair. When he completed the job he showed us where the bees were getting in from and advised that we seal up those areas. Dave told us what to expect for the following days. Within a couple days all the bees were gone. I am so grateful! Highly recommend"

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

An owl's worst enemy in the wild is often other raptors and environmental factors. Among the avian threats, larger owls or other birds of prey can pose a danger, engaging in territorial disputes or competing for food resources. Terrestrial predators like foxes, raccoons, and larger mammals may target owl nests or young fledglings. Environmental factors like severe weather conditions, habitat loss, and food availability changes can also significantly impact owl populations.

Metal coil-shaped retriever tools (around $50) help remove empty nests and debris from chimneys. Unless you are sure the nest is vacant, we recommend calling in a pro to handle bird’s nest removal from chimneys, vents, roofs, and other hard-to-reach places.

When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

Strong scents like peppermint, rosemary, lavender, citronella, and others can repel woodpeckers—as pungent smells can overpower their senses. For that reason, you might consider making a homemade spray with one or a combination of these scents to spritz around areas of your home where woodpeckers frequent.

Numerous predators kill hornets, including frogs, birds, lizards, bats, spiders, and hedgehogs. Some larger predators, including rats, skunks, and racoons, will occasionally attack a hornet nest in order to eat the larvae inside. These natural predators typically don’t eat enough hornets to make them an effective form of hornet control.
