"Al was fantastic! He clearly explained that my fireplace was shutting off as a safety feature due to low oxygen levels. He also reassembled the logs in the firebox and showed me the proper way to start and stop the fireplace. Highly recommend his service!"

"I contacted Pagano masonry regarding a leaky chimney. They gave me a quote to replace the flashing and waterproof the chimney that was 80% less than a quote I received from another vendor. When they arrived they concluded that re-caulking would fix the problem. They did that and waterproofed the chimney for a minimal cost. These guys are honest and I highly recommend them!"

"Thank you North American Chimney & Gutter Corp team for coming out to check and clean my chimney. We use our fireplace pretty regularly so I knew we needed to get someone out here soon to clean it out. It was very easy to schedule (and re-schedule) my appointment thanks to Amy. Marco and Micheal showed up early and was in and out very quickly. They left my fireplace in awesome condition and assured me that it was safe to use. These guys are the best punctual, and no pressure re: additional services. I would highly recommend!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired John and his crew to install our interior brick kitchen floor. Although there were some trial and error moments with the installation, these were purely because we chose a certain type of refurbished brick that was much thinner than standard brick pavers. John was definitely up to the task and couldn't have been more communicative and accommodating - always having our best interest in mind."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Hardwoods such as oak, maple, and hickory are the best types of wood to burn in a wood stove. These woods burn hotter and longer than softwoods, producing less creosote and fewer emissions. Hardwoods provide a more efficient and cleaner burn, which helps maintain better air quality and reduces the frequency of cleaning and maintenance required for your stove.

To burn garden waste, you can use a dug-out burn pit lined with stone or brick, a burn barrel, or a garden incinerator. If using a burn barrel, make sure it's made entirely of metal and properly equipped with screened vents and a metal top screen. Garden incinerators are designed for waste burning and should be operated according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Pellet stoves are safer than wood stoves in many ways. They don’t produce as many creosote deposits as wood stoves do, they create less smoke, and the flames are contained, decreasing the risk of any sparks or embers creating a house fire. Pellet stoves also burn more cleanly and efficiently than wood stoves do.

You should clean the ashes from your wood stove at least once a week during the heating season to maintain efficiency and safety. Additionally, it's crucial to have a professional clean the chimney and flue annually to remove creosote buildup, which can pose a fire hazard and affect the stove's performance. Regular cleaning ensures optimal operation and reduces the risk of harmful emissions.

Sometimes chimney caps blow off during storms or fall off after rusting away. While this typically won’t cause structural damage, failing to replace a chimney cap can. A chimney cap prevents moisture, animals, and debris from entering your chimney, all of which can cause serious problems, such as damage to the masonry or blockages in the flue.
