"He is an excellent home inspector and has inspected multiple homes for us. He is extremely detailed, thorough, and truly focused on the client’s best interest. Because of his attention to detail and ability to catch things others might miss, we’ve been able to negotiate discounts on homes during the purchasing process. Highly recommend him."

"This was the 3rd time I’ve used Axium (specifically Tim Krapfl) for home inspection. Tim is very thorough, knowledgeable, and professional! I highly recommend. Tim did the home inspection, but the services also included sewer scope and radon testing."

"Dealt with Chris Sparks directly.  He walked use through TWO home inspections from top to bottom, explaining what he looked for and why.  He checked roofing, gutters, draining, electrical, A/C, furnace, skin draining, garbage disposal, dish washer, gas fireplace.  The list goes on and on.  For $300 and about a 4-hour inspection, I'm impressed. At the end of the inspection he prints a full-color report of findings and recommendations, and also immediately emails one.  Did I mention he crawls into attics and checks power distribution panels?  Well worth the money paid!  Call him."

"He did our home inspection, he did a really good job. He got into every nook and cranny and found a whole bunch of stuff that we probably would not have found. He went into every single room and checked out everything. He went up into the attic and the entire time he explained to us what he was doing and his findings. He tested all the appliances, he found an extra filter in the fridge that he normally did not see and showed me how to change the filter if I do purchase the home. He found wires that were not connected to anything. I did buy it and I did a lot of the repairs he pointed out. He did a wonderful job, he was awesome and what was nice he was real excited to do the job. I highly recommend him."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, asbestos is not easily identified and can often be hidden in plain sight in your home. While it can look like fluffy fibers, tiny pieces can also appear in materials like plastic or cement, making it impossible to identify on your own properly.

Plus, since asbestos is so dangerous when disturbed, you should never root around to try and find it. This job is best for a professional who can test for the material properly.

Craftsman-style homes are predominantly found in the Western United States, specifically in Southern California, where the style originated. Since the climate was mild and there was access to plenty of natural resources, Southern California became a hub for this style at its inception. That being said, if you consult with an architect near you, you can have a Craftsman-style home anywhere.

In most cases, no. The purpose of an inspection is to highlight any glaring issues with the property that the buyer might use to negotiate or want to rectify after closing, but there’s no law stating the inspection must pass. A buyer can accept any problems identified during a failed home inspection. The only exception would be lender-required repairs, which could hold up the mortgage.

Yes, shipping container homes have a very high resale value if they’ve been well maintained over the years. You can resell this home similar to how you’d resell any home. The value depends on the market and the condition. As a bonus, you can transport many container homes depending on the design, which makes them easier to sell if the local market is challenging.

These are some of the critical considerations when planning to make your home accessible:

  • How wide are your doorways, wheelchair ramps, hallways, and pathways? These should be at least 32 inches wide.

  • Which bathroom modifications will be necessary?

  • Do you need to lower any cabinetry or other fixtures to make them accessible for wheelchair users?

  • Is there enough room to turn around in the shower?

  • Is there a second story of the home that requires a stair lift?

  • Is there proper lighting outside in the dark? If not, a floodlight may be necessary.
