Emergency services offered

"They let us know they were no longer in the gutter business. Called a few days in advance to set up a time to do the insulation. They were late and called at 4:45 in the 3:00-5:00 PM window to tell us their truck broke down and they'd be late. Blew in the insulation but didn't coordinate with the roofer about additional sofit vents or put in baffles where the new vents should be added. It was very difficult to communicate with the workers because only one could speak a little english. If all you need is some insulation blown it this company is OK.

"We were remodeling our basement for a rental apartment. While we had all of the drywall removed we decided it would be a good idea to sound proof the area for privacy. I did some research online and found a system and company that sold soundproofing supplies. We completed some of the work but we ran into a time crunch and decided that we needed to hire someone to help us finish. Freeman Insulation and Construction and Insulation replied promptly and was very friendly. They agreed to come out at a time that fit my schedule to go over the project in person. When they came out they were familiar with system and had no problem reviewing the instructions of the supplies I had purchased and even provided me with additional suggestions to improve the performance of the soundproofing that I had not even considered. They came back with a quote that was very reasonable after taking the time to find the best deals in town on the remaining supplies required for the project. They completed their work with no delays. The thing that set this company apart from every one else is when they came by to check up on my project and helped clean up after a messy drywall company (not affiliated with Freeman Insulation and Construction) to help me meet my deadline. This was above and beyond my expectations. Overall their communication was excellent, they were friendly, professional and courteous. The end product was better than I expected and most important, I have a happy wife at the end of the project. A huge thanks goes out to these guys for making this the smoothest part of my project!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Installing or repairing plaster on ceilings differs slightly from performing the same motions on a wall. You’ll apply slightly less plaster to lower the overall weight of the ceiling. Wall texturing is common, whereas most ceilings are smooth plaster. Tough coat plaster is strong, meaning you can use less while retaining a solid surface.

Regular dusting, occasional repainting, and avoiding harsh scrubbing preserve the finish.

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.
