"Danny installed new tile for our floors and both master and guest bathroom tile work for our new home. His communication skills are excellent. All work was performed in a timely manner and we were informed of project progress every step of the way. What we really appreciated was his ability to share his knowledge. While he did not tell us what to do; he provided professional advice and ideas that kept the project on track and led to a great project outcome. He also was able to line us up with other professionals to complete other new home construction needs. This means alot because it is very difficult for non-construction people like ourselves to find such professionals."

"Daniel was great to work with, answered all of my questions and thoroughly explained what the project entailed when we met at my house/job site. You must schedule a few weeks out and down payment for materials, but the efficiency of work (1 1/2 days) and results were great! Would definitely recommend Daniel for any flooring sealant or poly."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

The correct method to fix bubbling carpet depends on the cause. If the bubbles are caused by moisture, drying out the carpet can help flatten it. Otherwise, a pro might need to restretch or reinstall the carpet to fix the issue.

If you’re using a carpet runner instead of a traditional carpet, pay attention to your width measurements. Instead of measuring the total width of your staircase with 2 added inches for foldover, simply measure the width you’d like the runner to cover. Runners generally come in standard sizes, so you may need to approximate what would look best in your space.

Now that you know the true pleasure of a squeaky-clean floor, you’re probably wondering how to keep floors clean between mop days. Here are the best tips to keep your floor looking spotless:

  • Give floors a quick daily swipe with a microfiber mop.

  • Keep a spray bottle of your cleaning solution on hand to use as needed.

  • Sweep daily and vacuum once or twice a week.

  • Clean up spills and messes as soon as they happen.

  • Place a doormat at each entrance to your home to reduce mud tracking.

  • Consider enforcing a “no shoes inside” policy.

  • Wash your pet’s paws before letting them back inside.

Sheet vinyl is the cheapest DIY flooring, depending on the brand, style, and quality you choose. Not only is it one of the most affordable flooring products on the market, but it is also easy for most homeowners to install, as it only requires cutting, trimming, and gluing down to the existing floor surface. Some sheet vinyl manufacturers make a loose-lay sheet vinyl flooring that does not even need to be glued.

Carpet squares, tile stickers, painting or stenciling existing tile floors, and painting existing concrete flooring are also affordable options for DIY flooring.

Squeaking floors don’t usually pose an immediate safety risk. It can be the result of normal settlement, changes in humidity, or natural wear. Uneven or warped floors do pose a trip risk, so you should call a pro for a repair. This is especially true if you notice visible signs of rot or deterioration. Rarely, a creaking floor can signal structural issues, but there are usually other signs.
