"Dan was very responsive and professional. He came by to give us a proposal for the work we needed done (drywall repair/replacement and building of a new wall). He was punctual (arriving 5 minutes early), he was very professional and asked lots of questions to make sure his estimate included everything. He provided a estimate of the price before he left which was very helpful (we waited for weeks with other providers). In the end, we decided not to use him since we also need some electrical work done and flooring installation. However, he was a pleasure to work with getting an estimate."

"South Valley Drywall was fantastic. They performed tape & texture job for my finished basement. 1200 sq.ft. job. They were extremely professional, starting with the estimator Garrett Vapp. He spent 30 minutes with us giving us advice and a thorough emailed written quote.Bill the job supervisor answered all of my questions and had his crewwas there on time every day. They did exactly what he said they were going to do. They actually fixed some things that we messed up hanging drywall. The job was finished in time and without change orders. I would highly recommend South Valley, and oh, by the way did I mentionj they were the low bid!"

"Have used Oscar and Sun Drywall for two major drywall repair jobs over several years, and this is the best quality of work I have seen. Matching texture is difficult, most do not posses the skills - it is as much an art as skill, and hard labor to boot. Oscar hires only the most hardworking and skilled guys, in my experience. This man showed up at 8 a.m. as agreed, went right to work. He spent about 2 hours laying out and taping plastic, then dove right in to removing damaged areas and worked straight through without a break for 6 more hours repairing all the damage. Got some pizza for him, but he didn't even take a lunch. It was a big job. He asked me to review the work before he cleaned up and got all the plastic and debris out to his truck. The match is perfect! Not many drywall guys have this skill level - often a really bad change in the texture where a repair was made. I did have to vacuum after the job was done, but after he worked so hard and long to give me a beautiful job, I did not mind. I rate Oscar Benitez and Sun Drywall 5 stars.... if you want professional drywall repair, this is the place."

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.

There is no way to cut drywall without making dust, but you can reduce the amount of dust and especially the dangerous airborne particles by using manual cutting tools. Using a utility knife to score and snap your drywall will minimize dust production, and a jab saw for cutting cutouts for boxes and fixtures will generate almost no airborne dust. Even if you use these methods, you should still wear a respirator and safety goggles to avoid damage to your lungs and eyes.

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

Common causes include water leaks, settling, and impact. Address underlying issues to prevent recurring damage.
