Clean Sweep Chimney Sweep has been servicing the Colorado Springs area 1983. For specific pricing on Gas or Wood Fireplaces, Stoves, and Inserts and more information please call 719-533-0542.
"On October 12, 2020, after seeing that Clean Sweep was recommended on Angie's List, I phoned the company ((719) 533-0542) and was told that it (Clean Sweep) was very busy, so the earliest my chimney could be inspected/cleaned was at 3 pm on November 10, 2020. I accepted the appointment. On November 10, at 2:58 pm, my phone rang, but it was not a phone number that I recognized (I generally don't answer the phone unless I recognize the phone number), and I was busy, so the call (without my realizing it) went to voice mail. At 3:29 pm, I called (719) 533-0542, and my call went to voicemail. I identified myself, explained that I had expected someone at 3 pm, but no one had arrived and asked that someone contact me. At 4:06 pm, my phone rang again, but I did not recognize the number (On November 10, I had no fewer that five calls from numbers that I did not recognize; except for Cory, no one left a voicemail), so again, I did not answer the phone. A few hours later, I noticed that I had voicemail and played the messages. The first (2:58 pm) simply said that Cory had me down for an appointment at 3pm, and asked me to call him (at the unfamiliar number). The second (4:06 pm) said that he had left a message earlier (which he had) and that he needed an instrument (which he had to pick up) to scan the system. He said that he hoped to "come out tomorrow" (November 11) and asked again that I call him back (at the unfamiliar number). It being after work-hours, I did not call that evening. Instead, I called the unfamiliar number the next day (November 11), but no one answered and the message said that the voicemail box was full, so I could not leave a message. I called (719) 533-0542; no one answered, and, when the voicemail invited me to leave a message, I did not (since I had left a message there the previous day, and Cory had not indicated that he was aware of it). My next step (at 11:34 am on November 11) was to send a text message to the unfamiliar number: I identified myself, stated that I could not leave a voicemail because the voicemail box was full, and asked Cory to contact me. Not hearing anything by 2:54 pm, I called the unfamiliar number, and Cory answered. I apologized for having missed his calls and asked him when he could come to my house. His answer was that he would call me around noon on November 12 and come to my house afterward. It is now 1:55 pm on November 13, and I have not heard anything from Clean Sweep nor Cory."

"Disappointing Experience – Poor Service, Damaged Equipment, and Lack of Transparency I had a very frustrating experience with this vendor while having my refrigerator repaired. Initially, I was charged upfront for the service, but despite several requests, I never received a breakdown of the costs or an invoice for the materials used, which I needed for insurance reimbursement. The vendor insisted that they charge a "fixed fee," but their refusal to provide transparency was concerning. To make matters worse, the vendor ordered refurbished equipment, which I had explicitly asked to avoid. When I raised this concern, they assured me the equipment was "new," but I have serious doubts about that claim. The materials were shipped directly to my home, bypassing the vendor's quality control process. As a result, the equipment arrived damaged, causing significant delays and forcing me to reschedule work to deal with the issue. Despite these issues, the vendor was completely unhelpful, showing no empathy for the time and inconvenience I had to endure. They refused to issue a refund or offer any compensation for the delays or damaged equipment. The overall lack of professionalism and customer service was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this vendor based on my experience. I suggest you carefully review all terms and conditions before proceeding with any services, and make sure you're fully informed about what you're paying for."

"To say their service is poor would be to infer they offer service. 8/3/22 - was my first contact with Johnny's Plumbing. I spoke with Shawn about purchasing a Mendota Gas Fireplace Insert. Shawn provided a quote for the insert the next day; very impressed. I called Johnny's twice more in the month of August to schedule an inspection of our current fireplace and to get an installation quote. I spoke with Ruby. Then nada!! Next, I left a negative review on their website. Johnny's called me the same day to assure me they would take care of me. Ruby said it would be their Service Department Manager that would do the visit to my home and he sets his own schedule. Ruby said she would have him call me. Nada!! Finally, they called me and said someone to come to my house on 9/7/22. 9/7/22 - The employee that came to our house was Jim. He indicated he was not knowledgeable on doing gas inserts. He took some measurements and pictures and said someone in their estimating department would contact me in 7 to 10 days. I was wholly unimpressed with Jim; he had a can't do attitude. Then again nada!! 10/25/22 - I left another negative review on their website and Tony called me that same day. He said Jim had been fired and blamed him for the reason I never got an installation estimate. Tony said he would talk with Ruby in their scheduling department and have her set up an appointment. Tony said he would probably be the person coming to my house. Then nada!! 11/11/22 - Johnny's Plumbing has not been in touch with me since Tony called me on 10/25/22. It has been 3 months since my first contact with Shawn at Johnny's Plumbing. It is time to forget about Johnny's Plumbing. Since they haven't take the initiative to take care of me prior to the sale, I can only assume things would be worse after they are paid. Respectfully, Guy"

A gas log fireplace should be inspected and serviced as needed once a year. Preventative maintenance can help keep your fireplace in working condition and save money in the long run by avoiding more costly repairs on parts that could have been fixed sooner with a regular inspection.
The cost difference between a gas fireplace and a wood-burning fireplace depends on the type of wood-burning fireplace installed. The cost to install a gas fireplace tends to be cheaper than the cost to install a brick wood-burning fireplace. Installing a gas fireplace costs about $3,600 on average, whereas the cost to build a masonry wood-burning fireplace can go up to $30,000. The cost to install a wood-burning fireplace insert or stove can cost from $700 to $6,500, about the same as a gas fireplace on average.
The cost to repair a fireplace depends on the type, extent of repairs needed, and your location. The average cost to repair a fireplace varies depending on the part of the fireplace that needs work:
Firebox: $160–$2,500
Refractory panel: $200–$300
Hearth: $150–$800
Mantel: $500–$1,200
Pilot light: $100–$350
Igniter: $100–$150
Gas valve: $150–$300
Thermocouple: $75–$350
Thermopile: $75–$350
Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
