"Top-Notch tree service has really lived up to its name every time I've used them. They've trimmed trees for me as well as taking out trees that unfortunately had to go. Their people are extremely skilled at what they do and have taken on Jobe requiring a huge crane to complete. I've literally never been concerned about any aspect of what they advised needing to be done."

"M&N Stump Grinding and Small Tree Services is now OUR tree service people. We switched tree services because we were tired of replacing sprinkler heads, turf and cleaning up after theycleaned up. M&N was unbelievably good. It was amazing to have a service with such professionalism along with the quality of work. They did an amazing job of cleaning up afterward. "Hernandez tree care service was great. Easy to communicate with during estimate process and very helpful in evaluting tree removal and trimming of others. Went above and beyond to cleanup yard from limbs and even removed the fallen leaves we had not cleaned up yet. Also acquired part & repaired a flower bed sprinkler line that incidentally got broken in the neighbor's yard. Will definitely use their services again. Appreciate their business integrity and pride in there work."

Tree Service FAQs, answered by experts

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Yes, carefully prune back dead branches—don’t wait for pruning season. This helps keep your maple tree healthy and also helps prevent large branches from falling unexpectedly. Don’t seal the cut branch—trees can naturally take care of these wounds—but be sure to remove any source of fungus or pest infestation to help save the tree.

It's easy to misidentify trees that appear to be maple trees due to similarities in leaf shapes. Sweetgum, sycamore, and yellow poplar all have leaf shapes and appearances similar to maples. The fact that around a dozen maple tree varieties exist, only about half of which are considered common, makes misidentification an often typical occurrence.

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.

Planting a palm tree close to your home can provide shade while elevating the beauty of your yard. However, there are a few safety concerns to consider before doing so. You’ll want to opt for a smaller tree with a non-invasive root system. Select a species that won’t grow too tall and choose a planting location that won’t damage your home.
