"Utilizing All Service Moving for the move was a very positive experience. They had good communication, answering several questions prior to the move and did a final confirmation just prior to the move date. As for the physical move itself, Jose, Abraham, and Alberto were polite, diligent, and careful moving the many items, and managed to complete the move more quickly than anticipated."

"Orange Square Movers has some of the best employees working for them. Moving is always such a hassle but they were able to help me strategize with how things should be packed and prepared for the move. Compared to other moving companies, their prices are fantastic! Thanks to Orange Square Movers, Iâ m looking forward to my move and I know that my things are in great hands."

"The gentleman we friendly and courteous and miraculously got furniture into an apartment that was designed poorly for moving in/out. However, I felt the pace was slow and I was uncertain about their experience/knowledge with moving. They did a good job but I wouldn't jump at the opportunity to recommend this company simply because the time it takes affects the cost of the move."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Moving a kitchen cabinet can be extremely tricky for DIYers, especially if it's attached to plumbing, electrical outlets, or walls. The project requires meticulous planning, the right tools, and some muscle, not to mention a friend or two to help. While experienced do-it-yourselfers can manage it, hiring a pro is often safer to avoid damaging cabinets, countertops, or surrounding fixtures.

It’s best to schedule a moving pod two months before your moving date. This should give you enough time to secure the correct size and number of moving pods you need. It’s often possible to book moving pods on shorter notice, even within one week, but there’s a higher risk of local pods already being taken, especially if you’re moving during the summer or on a holiday or weekend.

When loading a moving truck, the general rule is to load the heaviest and largest items first to create a stable base at the front of the truck, which helps balance the weight. You can start with large furniture like sofas, beds, mattresses, and tables to form a solid foundation, or begin by placing your heaviest boxes against the truck's walls to create a base layer. After the base is set, continue loading other large items like appliances and square furniture. Lighter and smaller objects, including most of your boxes, should be loaded last. They can be packed into gaps, around, and on top of the heavier items to maximize space. Following this order makes unloading easier and helps prevent damage to your belongings.

When booking a moving truck, be sure to consult the company guidelines to determine whether they allow plants to ride in the moving vehicle. However, if you’re making a long-distance move, you should transport your plants in a temperature-controlled environment, which may rule out a moving truck. If you can put your plants in the moving truck, consider stacking them in the farthest corner to avoid extreme temperatures.

You can save money when moving by packing and moving items yourself. You can also find ways to cut costs by shopping for packing supplies at discounted stores and getting free moving boxes instead of purchasing them. It also pays off to declutter your belongings prior to starting the moving process. Remember, the fewer items you have, the fewer packing supplies you have to buy, and you can rent a smaller moving truck or container, too.
