"I had everything possible for them to haul- vanity, toilet, carpet, and boxes that seemed to multiply continuously (Add in wind gusts). They took it all in stride, made sure I was happy, and if anything else could be done. Great job!"

"Great customer service and very friendly. Arrived at the designated time. Very careful not to damage any areas in the house. Picked up our heavy two section recliner couches from our basement and took them only about 20 minutes Only charged $70. The couches were still in good condition, so they were going to take them to a donation center and not the dump."

"Alex and Jesus from Road Runner Moving & Storage did a fantastic job. They were hardworking and very professional. They asked questions along the way to make sure everything was going as expected. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better moving experience, I am very glad we used Road Runner and would definitely use this crew (specifically Alex & Jesus!) again. Highly recommended."

"Perfectly. The office staff set up everything carefully, and checked in with me several times before moving day to provide me with updates and to answer my questions. My moving team, Steve and Nick, were terrific: professional, kind, respectful. Not only did I have zero damages, but these two took great care to help place things and even gave me advice on how to set up my chest freezer, and more. If I move again, I will request these men by name. I chose the company because of their online video, which shows that the owner treats his employees as the valued professional they are."

"I had a long distance move from Miami to Orlando and Moving APT did a phenomenal job. I opted in for the full packing service so they literally packed EVERYTHING, disassembled, loaded it, drove it, then unloaded and reassembled it at my new home. I did not have to move a single item aside from my own car. The crew was extremely helpful, professional and punctual and they had extremely competitive pricing. 5 star experience"

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.
