"I hired SunSaver back in 2017 to install a 25 ft. long awning on my deck. They did a quality job and I know I purchased a quality awning. Now it's early 2023 and I noticed a problem with the fabric (fabric tear) and some streaking from the tracking mechanism. The awning came with a 10 year fabric warranty and I dealt wiht the owner Jeff. Even though the fabric manufacturer didn't cover the whole replacement cost of the awning fabric, James on his own told me that he was going to cover the whole cost to replace the awning fabric at no charge to me. It really showed me that he cares about doing a quality job and taking care of his customers. Very honest and upright. Thanks James!"

"I ordered windows from Champion in September and has them installed the weekend of December 7. The windows so far are excellent but the installation process was a total nightmare. The crews did not use drop cloths underneath any of the windows inside the home. There was material tracked throughout the entire house and the carpet and tile in the house was a mess. The lock on the patio door did not work after they installed the new door and I brought this to the installers attention. It took him about an hour of drilling new holes to get it to work. The window tracks were not cleaned after the installation and I had to take a shop vac and clean all the plastic material from the tracks. The plugs that go into the window frames were not installed and I had to remind them to please do this. There were screws and nails left in the gutter outside of the house. Calls and emails to their customer service group are not returned and I have given up trying to actually speak to someone at the company. I am happy with the windows, but would not use this company again based on the installtion experience."

At High West Siding & Windows, we are a full-service home remodeling firm capable of successfully taking on home improvement projects of virtually any size and scope. We will come to your home, listen to your concerns, and design a plan that will keep your needs and your budget in mind. Whether you need us to address issues from work performed by another contractor, or you have problems due to wear and tear, we will help you choose the products and services you need to ensure your home remains beautiful and comfortable for years.

"I was looking to have an awning installed on the back of my house after we acquired it in Sept 2021. October, I called to ask High West Siding at 20 Mount View Ln Colorado Springs, CO to come give me an estimate. On Oct 25 2021, I had Logan come out and get measurements and sign a contract. Not knowing any better, I asked when I could expect for this project to be completed. Logan said that they are generally busy, but said that the timeframe I could expect would be 3 to 6 months. I NEVER asked for this in writing and now I'm seriously regretting it. After applying for a loan with Green Sky, a home improvement loan company that High West Siding referred, I was approved for $36k which was used to start the process. Toni Kurtz was the individual who would oversee my project. Now, after not dealing with or worrying about this business dragging their feet due to high reviews/ratings, I end up calling in May and August of 2022 talking to Toni to find out that they did exactly what I was not worried about, which was dragging their feet with not filing the permits, sending the measurements to their factory to cut my awning, and pulling money out of the loan from Green Sky (which only stays open for 6 months before they close the account). After threatening to cancel the contract because of just how long they were taking I asked Toni that I wanted to cancel the contract and get a full refund. She explained that I could not cancel the contract without forfeiting what I paid into it and an estimated $8K+ more to "cancel" satisfactorily on their end. I quickly changed her tone when I said that I'd hire an attorney. Toni offered me to pay off loan herself because she is a single mother and she really needed her job and could not take the hit for me cancelling. She said that she was severely swamped and had to clean up other employee's messes which played a part on why my awning wasn't already built. She promised me 1,500 off to keep the project going. I reluctently accepted after hearing her sob story and I really did want that awning built. After all this, I didn't hear anything from High West Siding or Toni until November or December of 2022. Andrew [Name Redacted], Toni's replacement informed me that my awning was ready to be installed. During this call, I asked him that after this awning was installed, would I owe anything out of pocket? He said no. I then agreed on a date in Jan 2023 to have the work done to install the awning. I had a great experience with the installers/contractors who came over and did the work, which was amazing! I honestly can't praise them enough. The problem I had after it was completed was when Andrew [Name Redacted] came over to complete the paperwork and AMBUSH me with a final payment of $29,751.04. I was shocked because I specifically asked him if I would have any out of pocket expenses AFTER the completion which he said no, there wouldn't be any surprises. He told me that I need to reapply for another loan with Green Sky, have my wife take out a loan, or ask family because they/High West Siding does not accept monthly payments (which after hiring an attorney, Andrew contacted me to try and do just that/set up payments). He countlessly threatened me with placing a lien against our home for their mistakes, because Green Sky, their lending partner, only kept the accounts open for 6 months unless I called to have my loan extended for another 6 month, which High West knew about, but I didn't. After exhausting all means with Green Sky on reopening my loan with Green Sky with no success, trying to set up some form of payment plan until my wife got back to work, and trying to get help from family, we were left with no other alternative, but to hire an attorney and ask for a payoff settlement. They won't even agree to that and want full payment or face foreclosure. We have offered up a settlement on this, but High West Siding has rejected every single one and refuse to accept their own mistakes. BEWARE!!! Their contracts are basic/general and ONLY benefit them! From Oct 25, 2021 when the initial contract was signed, til Jan 28, 2023 when the awning was completed, took 460 days or 1 year 3 months and 3 days."

"BUYER BEWARE!!! TLDR: Months-long planned project delayed by Denver Decks met with disorganization, inconvenience and insulting apologies. All they care about is getting their money for the ‘finished product’. I’m beyond disappointed and angry that I have to write that as a company, Denver Decks deserves little praise and should be EMBARRASSED as to how our project was conducted. Our project that was months of planning and waiting was ultimately met with delays and confusion the moment Denver Decks started work at my home on Sept 30th. As soon as they arrived, critical materials weren’t on site and would be difficult to acquire. Work was stopped no less than 5 of the first 11 working days. This resulted in undue inconvenience to my family and neighbors. Each delay was another day and night of having to walk our dog-door accustomed dogs. Each delay was another day with trailers and dumpsters in our yard and on our street. Every time a different person from Denver Decks would blame something other than themselves for their terrible planning, logistics and management. It was always their supplier, the shipper, wrong parts, unforeseen circumstance, etc. Assured our project was the ‘anomaly’ among many routine projects, Denver Decks would account for the inconveniences. We were WRONG. I had multiple conversations with the owner of Denver Decks who dismissed our frustrations as us ‘not feeling good about it’, and that it wasn’t their fault and all that mattered was the final product, regardless of delays or frustration. The owner did little but deliver some of the delayed materials, arrived in a truck out of which trash fell out onto our street. He offered free upgrades that we didn’t want nor matched our project specs. We then argued about potential adjustments to the original bid which of course were balked at by the owner. My follow-up texts went unanswered. A day later I was personally having to sign for and receive the delivery of some of these delayed materials (due to Denver Decks absence). My name spelled wrong on the delivery invoice no less. 3-1/2 weeks after our existing deck was demolished did my family finally have a safe and live-able deck. The carpenters themselves did great work and their craftsmanship was exceptional. But they were new to working for Denver Decks and appeared frustrated with their lack of organization and leadership from the Denver Decks back office. Things seemed tense for the onsite crew and Denver Decks throughout this project as the carpenters found themselves the middle-men between myself and the Denver Decks project team at times. Completely unprofessional. On Oct 24th, our project was finally finished. It passed the inspection by the city and our Denver Decks foreman presented us the final bill for payment. To our satisfaction the final price was meaningfully lower than our original price and we took that as an apology and recognition for the hassle during the project. We signed a check in the multiple tens of thousands of dollars and shook hands thinking Denver Decks ultimately did right by my family and our home. Calling family and friends to celebrate, mentioning that despite our trouble, all was well. Denver Decks made our project whole. We were again WRONG. A mere hour or so later, the same Denver Decks foreman I had just paid said that they had forgotten something on the final invoice and if he could just swing back by to pick up a 4-figure check for the difference. Effectively demanding payment in-full for a deck and pergola that came with delays, mistakes, headaches and excuses. Outrageous!!! You can get a quality deck from Denver Decks for a PREMIUM price. Be prepared for PREMIUM excuses, apologies and little sympathy for their disorganized and poorly managed ‘business’. Hard to enjoy our new deck and pergola being so disheartened and angry by the experience. This family recommends looking elsewhere for a business that includes ethics and integrity in the price. You won’t find those values at Denver Decks."

FAQs for awning service projects in Lafayette, CO

The cost of an awning is $1,400 to $4,400 on average. However, this cost could be as low as $100 or as high as $7,500, depending on a few factors. The type of awning you choose, the size you need, and your location all affect your overall cost.

For example, portable awnings you can put up and take down yourself range from $100 to $400, whereas motorized awnings are more luxurious and cost between $2,000 and $3,500.

When contacting an awning installer, there are a few questions to ask to make sure the process runs smoothly. To have the awning of your dreams installed to shade you from the sun, ask your installer some of these questions to get you started:

  • How long will this project take to complete?

  • Do you have insurance coverage?

  • Will I need a building permit for this project? Who is responsible for obtaining this?

  • Do you have references from previous clients?

  • Do you have photos of previously completed projects?

Awnings can take anywhere from two hours to two days to install once made. Retractable awnings are generally more lightweight and simpler to install than metal ones, which take longer. Even if you’ve chosen a retractable awning, it’s best to plan for a two-day installation timeframe to give your installer plenty of time to ensure proper installation and operation.

Awnings are either fixed or retractable and can be paired with a variety of cover materials. Fixed awnings are a permanent outdoor feature of a building. These are highly durable and require ongoing maintenance. Once installed, the position of this awning cannot be changed.

Retractable awnings are more popular than fixed awnings since the cover can open and close. This allows homeowners to open and close the awning, depending on the weather. When not in use, it can be closed to allow for extra space.

Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:

  • Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire

  • Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning

  • Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings

  • Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust
