"Steve completed the work I asked him to do. My wall repair project was so small that his standard trip charge was a little much, but he did a good job and made sure that the surrounding area was kept clean."

Small jobs welcome

"I can't say enough good things about Jason and his team at Viking Deck & Fence Care. They did an amazing job cleaning and sealing my deck, and the results are better than I ever expected! From the start, Jason was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly responsive to all my questions. He took the time to explain the process and make sure I was comfortable with everything before starting the job. The deck looks brand newâ Jason's attention to detail was outstanding, and you can really see the care he puts into his work. He worked efficiently without cutting any corners, and the sealing was done perfectly to ensure long-lasting protection. I highly recommend Viking Deck & Fence Care to anyone looking for quality service. Jason's expertise and dedication to his craft truly set him apart!"

"Luke assembled a trampoline after preparing and leveling the site. He emphasized safety for the kids on the tramp as a priority. He was very conscientious- showed up on time, completed the project thoroughly, cleaned up, and was reasonable in price. All of which made the young jumpers and adult non-jumpers very happy!"

"I used Valenzuela Fence to prep and re-stain 250 ft of wood fence. Jorge was always communicative, priced reasonably, and did an on-time great job with this project. I recommend and would use Valenzuela Fence again."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It depends on the type of wood. The average cost to build a deck out of pressure-treated lumber is $15 to $25 per square foot, but more affordable varieties such as bamboo and cedar cost less at around $3 to $10 per square foot. However, when comparing the cost of vinyl decking versus wood decking, it’s important to also consider ongoing maintenance costs. For example, most woods require regular sealing to keep them protected against weather and rot.

You typically don’t need a railing and handrails on a deck that’s less than 30 inches from the ground. However, consider adding them regardless. Railings provide additional safety for you and your guests who use your deck—plus, railings give the deck a more finished look than it would have without them.

A deck that isn’t attached to a house is called a floating or freestanding deck. These standalone decks are built near ground level, so they usually don’t need deck stairs. Some don’t even require permits. Generally speaking, building a floating deck is faster and more DIY-friendly than constructing one that’s connected to your home.

Pressure-treated lumber is one of the most affordable types of decking upfront. This material is widely available, so you can usually find pressure-treated lumber at almost any local home improvement store you visit. Keep in mind that wood requires a lot of upkeep with repainting and restaining, so any kind of wood may be more expensive in the long run than something like PVC decking.

Your deck may pop, and your neighbor’s deck may not for a number of reasons. Whether or not a deck pops will depend on how it was made, the conditions it’s exposed to, and the materials. Improper spacing is a common reason for increased pressure between deck boards. Moisture penetration is another.
