"I liked the fact that they did the vent cleaning from the outside so I didn't have to worry about making space in the laundry room so they could get to the dryer. My only complaint is that it took them a while to get to me, even though I said I needed it done quickly. I had to call twice to get the job moved up, but I am happy with the work."

Small jobs welcome

"This was a very large commercial interior painting job - large kitchen, restrooms, clubhouse w/wood trim, ceilings, doors and a lot of trim work. Jim showed up on time to give me a bid on the job. He is very knowledgeable regarding painting and has great suggestions. He said this job would take him 4 - 6 weeks to complete. It took Jim a month - 22 days {8-10 hrs/day] to complete this job which was 2 weeks sooner than we had expected. He took time and care in prepping which paid off in the long run. The walls, which had a lot of holes in them from pictures, looked brand new when he was finished. He painted over paneling and it looks amazing. He doesn't tape anything off - he works totally free hand and does an excellent job. He had great suggestions and everything came out better than expected. There was absolutely no mess or clean up. He showed up every day promptly and kept me informed on what he would be working on and completion times. Jim was very easy to work with and I would highly recommend High Mountain Painting. I would definitely hire Jim again."

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Clean your hardwood floors with a soft broom or flat mop about once a week to remove dirt and grit. Focus on high-traffic areas and areas just inside the major entryways twice a week. Deep clean your floors with water and a cleaning solution about once every two months.

To clean a subfloor after removing carpet, start by removing any leftover debris, such as stuck-on underlay, nails, or staples. Next, thoroughly vacuum the subfloor to eliminate dust, dirt, and loose particles. If adhesive residue remains, you can use an adhesive remover, a scraper, or a sander to gently lift it off. Finally, clean the surface by mopping or wiping it down with a damp rag and allow it to dry completely. This preparation is essential for ensuring new flooring adheres properly and to prevent bumps or wrinkles from forming.

The best cleaner to remove soot depends on the surface material and the type of fire, but consider dish soaps or degreasers, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, and hydrogen. Low-oxygen fires often leave behind greasy soot, which is best removed with dish soaps or degreasers. Baking soda can be useful for absorbing soot deposits from carpets, followed by rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to clean the set-in stains.

Acrylic tubs are easy to clean with simple items you already have around the house. You can use dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, cream of tartar, or borax to clean an acrylic bathtub. Avoid mixing any household cleaners, including common ingredients like vinegar and bleach, as this can create toxic fumes. It’s also best to start with a spot test of any cleaners you use.

Only if the dishwasher isn’t made of stainless steel. The corrosive chemicals in bleach will stain stainless steel and can also cause further damage. To stay on the safe side, stick with an extra cycle of vinegar to banish any lingering odors.
