"Installed 7 push piers in two days and was able to raise the foundation of one wall up one inch to level it back with the rest of the house. The crew of Jonathan H, Manuel A and Gerardo T did an efficient and clean job. I was kept informed at every step of the process."

"Thrasher did a great job. The foreman was knowledgeable and he explained what was going to be done. We were allowed to watch the process. They leveled the front step and the sidewalk by drilling holes in the concrete and pumping foam under them until everything was level. They caulked everything when they were done and cleaned up the area. The entrance to our home looks so much better. It was well worth the money."

"Hendricks Installations sealed and insulated our crawlspace very quickly and professionally, even improving on the work that a radon mitigation crew had previously done in that area. Ryan was extremely professional and friendly, and cleaned up the work area nicely. The initial inspection was quick and thorough and we were scheduled within couple of days. Pricing was fair and the work was finished within desired time frame. Communication throughout the project was excellent and we would definitely call them first for any future crawlspace work."

"We poured the concrete then a Winter Storm blew in and the concrete didn’t dry correctly. They were great to come back and fix it. Sometimes things don’t always go right. You want someone who owns it and won’t stop until it’s done right. They did that."

"Dan Carlo has always exceeded my expectations. He shows up as promised. He presents me with a bid, and sticks with it. He has provided me with quality workmanship, and several of my projects involved old houses that required non-cookie-cutter solutions, which Dan navigated with ease. He's fair and honest and I will call on him again. A+ !!!"

"Great experience. Mark and team did our home's landscaping. It was a consortium of owners that were rarely at the house. We had to hand him some loosely prepared plans -- and trust to him to act like an owner. He was great throughout. Made good decisions, followed up with us when not sure, and got it done. It's really hard to find good contractors in the mountains, and Mark was the exception. Complexities included a non-smoke firepit, a fountain, and a various other adjustments along the way as he saw things that we had not. Thank you!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

On average, a quality exterior brick stain can last between 10 and 20 years, and sometimes even longer. While it will look its best for a minimum of three to five years, its total lifespan depends on several factors. These include the quality and type of stain used, the condition of the brick, and the thoroughness of the surface preparation, such as proper cleaning. Following the manufacturer's application instructions and applying a sealant as a final step is also crucial. The stain's longevity can be affected by your location, climate, and the brick's exposure to harsh weather, high traffic, and other elements. Over time, the stain may begin to fade or look dingy due to weathering, erosion, dirt, and debris. Compared to paint, brick stain generally has a longer lifespan.

Choose from an abundance of natural and synthetic options when perfecting your hardscape design. Stone veneer costs a bit less, holds up against the tests of time and weather, and also works best in curves and complex walls.

Natural stone, however, provides an organic look to a lawn while providing just as much strength as veneer. Don't forget you can chat with your mason about other common wall materials like brick, cinderblock, and concrete.

Yes, you can use a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach and a gallon of warm water to clean stubborn stains from brick. Do not use bleach without diluting it in water. Undiluted bleach may cause discoloration. You can use either Oxygen bleach such as OxiClean or chlorine bleach. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling bleach.

You should use cement for a chimney crown. The purpose of the chimney crown is to protect the mortar below from water damage and the effects of weather. For this reason, chimney crowns should only be made using cement. When repairing a crown, use caulks and sealants designed for cement repair rather than mortar repair.
