"Couldnâ t be happier! Garrett not only did an amazing job skimming, priming, and hanging our wallpaper but he also helped guide how much wallpaper to order. He was responsive and was able to schedule us when needed. One thing thatâ s hard to find in a contractor is communication. Garrett always kept us in the loop and notified if he was running behind. Iâ ll definitely be using them again and will easily recommend them to anyone looking for excellent quality work."

"Mike and crew were great to work with. They were professional, friendly, on time, worked hard and paid great attention to detail. Watching the room come together as they did the drywall, painting, door and baseboard installation was a lot of fun for us and it is clear that they are passionate about a job well done. There was great communication if and when questions came up, both for us and them. The fine touch around some custom paneling, window sills, new hand rails and making the soffits blend in with the rest of the walls was much appreciated. We were pleased with the work and I would 100% recommend."

"Isaac did a great job painting our home inside and outside. He was quick, efficient with a big smile on his face. The job was well done with a very reasonable rate. Best rates out of few companies I called. Very happy with results. My house looked new again."

"Ireland's Finest was professional from beginning to end. The estimator (Ben), project managers (Miguel and Casey) and painters (Tomas Locano, Ron Moran and Eduardo Domingues) were courteous, patient and pleasant to work with. The painters, in particular, were exceptional with their attention to detail. They were perhaps the best contractors we have worked with since moving into this home four years ago. I won't use any other painting company in the future."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

While many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, they may not adhere as well in humid environments as traditional wallpaper. For best results, choose a vinyl or polyester-based wallpaper, as these materials are more durable and water-resistant. Good ventilation is also crucial to reduce humidity from steamy showers. In bathrooms with high moisture and inadequate ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

The two most common reasons wallpaper does not stick are a lack of preparation and improper adhesive. Be sure to use the wallpaper paste designed for the type of paper you choose. Before beginning your project, make sure the walls are clean and free of dust, grease, and oils.

No, you don’t need to apply paint primer to your wall before hanging paintable wallpaper. Manufacturers design paintable wallpaper so that the paint will adhere effectively, so primer isn’t necessary. Plus, even if you opt for a light shade of paint, you won’t have to worry about the shade underneath showing through because you are painting on a light, white surface.
