"Concrete Evolutions has expanded beyond installing concrete. The crew repaired our existing irrigation system and installed three new zones to accommodate new landscaping. They designed and prepared beds for new plants on three sides of our house. This involved amending the soil and adding tons of rock and mulch. They also laid down grass in our backyard and made a "Breeze" (crushed rock) patio. As we continue to purchase plants to go in the new beds, they will be back to plant them digging the holes and connecting the plants to the already installed irrigation system. The crew was always pleasant and offered suggestions as together we worked on this project. They made a point to check in with us periodically to make sure we were satisfied. The main issue with garbage disposals is clogging. This can mean a clogging of the pipes that expel the food along with water, or a clogging of the mechanical parts themselves. Simply depress this reset button to reset the unit, and then test to ensure it’s working about 10 minutes later.

As with many appliances, proper maintenance is key to maximizing your garbage disposal’s life span. If everyone in your household is on board with proper care and maintenance, like running water while operating the disposal, you should get plenty of years out of your unit. Avoid putting the wrong food items down the disposal, including pasta, rice, bread, and more.

Garbage disposals can be considered bad for the environment due to their electricity usage, but good for the environment because they reduce the food waste sent to landfills. If everyone used a garbage disposal, it would tax the wastewater treatment facilities in that region, but if we had to choose one of the options, we’d say they are a net positive on the environment when used correctly. 

Garbage disposals last an average of seven years but can function well past 10 years. However, as time goes on and more food is ground, the grinding plates will slowly lose their edge and need replacing. A motor likely won’t last 10 or more years, but you should be able to get a minimum of five years at least, even under heavy usage.
