Kaylen (Caylen? Not sure of spelling) came to inspect my sump pump and did so much more! He found that my pump had failed, told me that I didn't need his full service. Just remove old pump and install new one with existing parts. He pulled up the old pump, showed me what to do, what kind of pump to buy at hardware store. Another plumbing company had previously told me to replace pump and offered to do the same job for $1700! Incredible experience with Kaylen. Thanks for the info and education. My sinking porch floor needs raising. I know who's going to do that job. Hats off for superb service!

I am recommending inspector Lucas and Groundworks for the work they DIDN'T perform! They came out and did a complete inspection and told me the crack in my foundation wall does not need repairing unless it progresses further. One of my fears in hiring a company off Anti without a personal recommendation and about a topic I'm not familiar with (foundations) is that they might try to tell me I needed repairs when I didn't need them. Lucas was honest, professional, thorough, respectful, and I felt safe around him. Great communication. Texting to set appointment. Texting by both the company and inspector for reminders, when they were on the way, when the arrived.
Description of Work: A complimentary, thorough inspection was done. Repairs were not needed.

They don’t back up warranty on major repair. They do not communicate with home owners or renters about what needs to be done or what needs to be done in preparation of the work they need to do . Life time warrant! Ha! Good luck trying to get them back out to fix their engineering mistake!! Oh, and the did very little clean up after work. No!! I do not recommend them!!!

We had a problem with our foundation slab that needed lifting. Our service was impeccable from the initial inspection and quote down to the actual foam installation. Our Technicians, Zack and Aven were professional, courteous and above all very knowledgeable of their business and the work at hand. They treated our property as though it was their own. Thanks for the outstanding job. I would recommend Groundworks for anyone that needs this type of work. Ask for Zack and crew. They are top notch.

Customer service was over the top until I didn't go with all the bells and whistles, which would have cost over $50,000. The job I had completed was much less, and the customer service was awful. They said with what I had done, they could seal the concrete for an additional cost, but then went back on their word because I didn't have the whole recommended work and couldn't close the cracks in the foundation. Hired another company - they shared that they were "crooks," as the work to support the walls was over the top and could have been repaired for less than 5K. The drywall was cut to install the "rods," not a crack in the walls. Most of the back wall is covered by a rear patio, where no signs of leakage or repair are needed, but Groundworks insisted the entire wall needed the repair. All about the MONEY! Get second and third opinions!!!

TOTAL waste of time. I asked for a quote for insulating a crawl space. Their guy showed up on time (the ONLY positive part of this review). I showed him the space, and made it very clear what I was trying to accomplish. He misunderstood my goals, so I spent the next 15 minutes explaining (and re-explaining) what I wanted. He never focused enough on what I was saying (he was totally distracted and inattentive), and he finally said, “There’s nothing we can do to help you, good luck!”. As I said, this was a total waste of my time. I would NOT recommend these folks at all. VERY unprofessional !

I was in the process of selling my house. I contracted them to install two supports in my crawlspace. Two weeks after they installed it was inspected. During their install they broke a grey water drain pipe. It had been leaking in my crawlspace since the day they were done. Tim tindle from groundworks came out. He said they're not going to pay for damages due to the fact I can't prove they did it... They were the last people in my crawlspace. Ridiculous! I was not even seeking large amounts of money. $75 charge for a licensed plumber to reconnect the pipes it's all I was seeking. Do not use this company. They'll charge you an arm and a leg and will not take responsibility for anything they mess up.

This review is based on my interaction with Complete Basement Systems (CBS)/Groundworks and only details the process from the initial request for service until the job was finished. I had heard many good things regarding CBS and the reviews from previous customers was always good. However, this is not one of those reviews. I am not going tell the reader of this review to use CBS/Groundworks or go with another company. They can decide on their own. I will say, make sure you read the contract. When calling CBS and placed on hold, you will hear a message stating how much pride they take in communicating and keeping the customer informed every step of the way in the process. The backstory – We put our home up for sale in mid-May 2022 and received several offers. We accepted an offer, and they had an inspection done on the house and it was discovered that the supports in the crawlspace needed to be replaced and they rescinded the offer. I got several recommendations for a structural company including CBS from my realtor. I setup an appointment for an evaluation and quote with Jonathan Falcone at CBS on June 10th. The quote was sent in a timely manner, and I contacted Jonathan regarding me doing some of the demo work. We made arrangements to discuss what demo work I needed to do, and he came on June 14th to show me everything that needed to be done. He said that an engineer would look at everything and either the engineer or CBS (I can’t remember which) would apply for a permit for the work. We scheduled the work to run from August 2nd – 4th. We then put the house back on the market stipulating the work to be done and received an offer that we accepted. We closed on the house mid-July with the buyers being aware of the timeframe for completion of the work. The following is a timeline on the communication between me and CBS. Early to mid-July, the utility marking came out to show all underground utilities. I did not get any notification of when they were coming out. I called Jonathan and asked if it was kind of early as there was still several weeks before the work is to start. He said that it was the utility company that sets it up and CBS doesn’t do the utility locate. Not a problem. On July 26th, I received a text from Oleg, a private contractor, to set up a sewer scope for the next day. He shows up on the appointed time and looks at the sewer lines, clean outs, and the sewer (?) cap in the middle of the street. The only piece of equipment used for the scope was a flashlight. Once again, not a problem. I completed the demo that Jonathan and I agreed upon the weekend before the job was to start. On Aug 1st, one day before the work is to start, I received a voicemail from Karen with CBS/Groundworks. She said they had to postpone the work because the municipality had not issued a permit for the work yet and to call her back. I called back and left a message. I went to the city’s website to look for the status of the permit and it showed there wasn’t one for the address. I then called the permit office in case I had made a mistake and talked to someone in the permit office regarding the status of the permit and was told an application for the address was never submitted. I contacted Jonathan and was told the engineer they usually use for this type of work stopped communicating with them. He said they tried to contact him several times with no luck. He said mine wasn’t the only job affected and that they would get a new engineer out asap to look at the work. I asked why I hadn’t been notified prior to the day before the start of the job that they were having an issue. He said that it was the job of the office to take care of it. I then called Karen a second time and was able to talk to her. I asked her why we hadn’t been notified that they didn’t submit an application for permit, and she said she was on leave. When I asked if someone took over her duties while she was gone, she said yes, her manager was supposed to it, but she was busy doing “manager” things and wasn’t able to get to it. She said they have to schedule a new engineer to come out and look at job. Had I known that an engineer was actually going to come out, I would have inquired about the status weeks earlier. On August 3rd, the engineer from a different company came out and did an extensive inspection of what was needed. He even went up to the attic to ensure the bracing was good. On August 8th, I called Karen for an update. She said she would be working with Jonathan regarding the scheduling. Later that afternoon, I received a text from Jonathan saying they wanted to do a walk through with the Production Supervisor to make sure they had everything they needed for the crew to do the work. I asked why this wasn’t done prior to the original install (8/1). He said it is typically done closer to the install to prepare the crew. He never said why the walk through wasn’t scheduled in July, which once again indicates they knew they weren’t going to make the original start date. To coordinate a job like this with multiple deadlines, reminders should have been setup throughout the process. On August 11th, I checked the city’s permit site and it showed no change. On August 12th, I called Karen to schedule the walk-through with Jonathan, Jose (Production Supervisor), and the buyers for the 17th. She said the permit should be issued on the 23rd and they were hoping to start the work on August 30th but that could change as well. We met on the 17th at the location and asked Jonathan how the “ball was dropped” this bad and he stated, “it is what it is” and we basically needed to work on getting the job done. Though I wasn’t thrilled about what was happening, I agreed we needed to get the process started to a positive result. After Jose looked at crawlspace, he said it was going to take more than initially quoted. They had more dirt than originally thought to move and it would cost more. After asking several times, how much more, Jonathan finally answered it would be a little under $5000 not including the dumpster. At this meeting, we agreed that I would pay for the dumpster and Jonathan would pay for the demo of the additional access points to the crawlspace. He said he would be paying for it out of his own pocket. When I got the change order, it showed the additional cost of the work, that I would pay for the dumpster, and the demo would be “CFI to pay”. On August 19th and 22nd, I checked the city permit site for the status of the application with no change. Jonathan sent me a screen shot that showed it was in processing, so I must’ve not had the correct access. Several days later, I registered on the city’s building permit site and was able to find the application and that it was finally approved. I never received any notification from CBS that they got the permit, which to this point I didn’t care, I was just happy it was done. On August 30th, I requested another update from Jonathan. He responded on the 31st that he did not have an update, but I was free to contact the office and ask for an update. I called the office to speak to a manager for an update and was forwarded to the voicemail of Brooke. She called back either that day or a day later and I went through the entire timeline that I am doing now. She apologized for the miscommunication, and I stated it was more a “no” communication. She said she would work on it and would get back with me when she had more info. I asked at that time if I could talk to Scott, the GM of CBS. She said she would pass on the request and that he was in meetings that day. On September 2nd, she texted and said that she contacted the buyer and told them that they have them scheduled for November 1st – 4th and that the buyers are not thrilled about the new date. I called her to discuss it as I wasn’t jumping for joy either. She said the date was mainly to get them on the schedule and there are usually cancellations from other customers, and we would be put in those spots. On September 8th I requested another update from Brooke, but she had nothing new to report. On September 9th, I called Brooke again and she informed me that they had a cancellation, and we are now scheduled for September 26th – 29th. We waffled back and forth a little on who would schedule the dumpster for the job. Not a big deal. On September 19th, I called the dumpster company to see if a drop had been scheduled and it had not. I went ahead and scheduled it for the 26th. Around the 22nd, I received a call from the company to see if I had ordered a second dumpster. I did not but CBS had ordered it. I was able to cancel the second dumpster. Sometime during the week of the 19th, I called CBS and requested to again speak to Scott, the GM. The person taking the message said she would get it to him. September 26th, start day !!!. The crew doing the work called to say they were on the way. Later that morning, I received a call from the buyer saying the crew needed to remove part of a wall to access the location for the piers. This was not discussed during the production meeting with Jonathan and Jose. I called Jonathan and said this wasn’t mentioned before. He said, “it is what it is” and which point I said I didn’t agree and that I was the one being affected, and I was the only one paying. He said that he was also paying for the demo. He said he would look into it and get back to me. I asked him to pass a message to Scott, the GM, that I would like to speak to him. Jonathan asked why I needed to speak to Scott. I told him its regarding the entire process and lack of communication. I never got an answer back regarding the wall. The work was completed on August 30th. This review does not include the work that the crew on-site did as it appears they did a great job and were very professional. I would give 5 stars to the on-site crew, 4 stars to Brooke, and 1 star to everything else. My apologies for the length of this review. It was meant to show that Complete Basement Systems/Groundworks did not communicate to me and/or the buyer in a way that they indicate on their website, emails, and telephone hold message. Most of the communication that occurred was initiated by me. I had to continue to get status updates on my own. This was our world, for this job, yours may be different. PS – I still haven’t received a call from Scott, the GM.

My crawl space is shared by 6 units. We had some piers put in 2 years ago and a crack showed up in my wall about 6 months after the piers were put in. I had them come back out to check on the piers. At first I was told that I needed more piers. Then they came back out 6 months later and said no I don't need more piers, actually there is some rotting on the beams and you need another support beam and sister joists at a tune of $7000. I had 4 additional companies come out who said I didn't need any of this and was being scammed. After talking to the service manager at CBS, he agreed to come out and said that he agreed with the other companies that I didn't need any work done. So I almost made a very costly decision that was completely unnecessary. Additionally it took 1 1/2 months to get the quote after they came out. I sent an email with follow up questions and never heard back. I sent texts and phone calls and kept receiving a response of "I'll send it today." I am a single woman and I feel as though this company took advantage of that fact. I would not recommend them to anyone. There are a lot of structural repair companies in the Denver area that provide honest service.

This project was done professionally and at a competitive price, from beginning to end. Matt Harper helped us identify our needs (including unrelated plumbing issues) and scheduled the project. Francisco and his crew, Hirnan andJesus, arrived as scheduled, and worked tirelessly all day. They were professional, courteous, and friendly, working well into the evening to assure that every detail was right and the work areas were clean when they left. Before them, Thomas and Jose stabilized the basement floor, and Andy installed the wiring for the new sump pump. All were professional and efficient. I would definitely recommend Complete Basement Systems and will thank our neighbors who recommended them.

PENDING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST COMPLETE BASEMENT SYSTEMS On Friday April 2, 2021 Jonathon Falcone of Complete Basement Systems came to my house in Erie to give me an estimate for waterproofing my basement. Their waterproofing strategy was to let the water run into the basement behind a plastic curtain. Supposedly, it would then flow down into a perimeter drain below the basement slab. It didn’t sound like a good idea. The financing terms were good so I let him run a credit check for financing just in case I wanted to use their system. He had me sign and initial what seemed to be quite a bit of paperwork for a credit check, but, whatever… The following Monday I got a contract that I had apparently signed in all the paperwork I’d been presented. I immediately called CBS and told them emphatically that all I wanted was an estimate and to cancel the contract immediately. Rather than take action at the main office where I’d called, they sent me back to Jonathon who said “No problem, just let me keep it on the books in case you do decide to use us;” because it would save him a lot of paperwork for him. I agreed but when I found a system I liked better, Jonathon refused to cancel the contract citing the three day provision for cancellation in the contract. I’ve talked to three different people who’ve worked for Complete Basement Systems in the past. They’ve all told me that this is standard operating procedure for this company. Sign a few papers, run a credit check, and Bingo! You’ve got a contract that takes legal assistance to get out of. According to my attorney this “3-day rule” is often misused by companies to tie you into a contract that you don’t want. BE AWARE: IN THE STATE OF COLORADO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL A CONTRACT AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. As noted above, I have had to hire an attorney to deal with this issue. Even though I was finally able to cancel the contract I was billed for engineering work I never authorized. The lawsuit being filed will be to recover that money along with legal fees. If you need waterproofing done for your foundation, chose one which does not let water into your house through the walls. The freeze-thaw cycle alone will destroy your foundation. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE COMPLETE BASEMENT SYSTEMS. I’m a registered engineer in the State of Colorado. My degree is in Architectural Engineering. I’ve been in construction in one form or another for fifty years. In my opinion, COMPLETE BASEMENT SYSTEMS is run by a bunch of crooks.
